About Homer Lake

This is one of our Backcountry sites which is a near- wilderness single party site and is accessible only by foot or boat. These sites are first come, first served. There is one site on this lake, each have a fire grate, a latrine and may have a picnic table. A few reminders: Hang food packs, put your fire out each time you leave your campsite, treat or boil all water, wash yourself and dishes at least 150ft from any body of water, pack out all garbage and Leave No Trace. This public campground welcomes RV enthusiasts seeking a balance between accessibility and authentic outdoor experience. The lake itself becomes the centerpiece of your stay, with its calm waters reflecting the surrounding pine forests and creating that quintessential Minnesota landscape that draws visitors from across the region.

The campground's location puts you in prime territory for water-based recreation. Fishing enthusiasts will appreciate the lake's potential for catching walleye, northern pike, and panfish, making early mornings on the water a cherished ritual for many visitors. The shoreline provides natural beauty that changes with the seasons, from the vibrant greens of summer to the spectacular fall colors that transform the landscape into a photographer's paradise. Swimming, boating, and paddling are popular activities that take advantage of the lake's generous size and relatively undeveloped shoreline.

Beyond water activities, the surrounding landscape offers excellent opportunities for hiking and nature exploration. The Minnesota lake country provides the kind of peaceful environment where you can disconnect from daily stresses and reconnect with what matters most. One of my favorite campgrounds. It has kind of went downhill. Maybe due to budget cuts for maintenace?? Maybe due to people not taking care. It was a bit run down and overgrown this year. The bathroom was still clean. PSA: There is no electrical hook-ups, and nobody wants to listen to your generator running 24/7 at a campground like this.

Went to this campground to do a hike that was on the list of the Gunflint Trail. Nice quiet campground, no electric . Lake was beautiful. Trail around lake was rocky and uneven but manageable. Multiple places along the trail on the lake to fish from shore. Planning to return to this lake and go kiaking.

This place is small and quiet and makes for a peaceful camping experience. It I'd also one of the cleanest campgrounds I've been to. Even though we were there over a holiday weekend they made sure to keep all the concrete porta pottys clean and stocked with tp. The lake is beautiful with all kinds of wild life and a fun 2 mile trail that goes around the lake. It's not huge or well maintained but... Kimball lake campground is a cozy little spot just up the gunflint. Plenty of space between the sites for a more outdoorsy experience. Great access to a trout lake and plenty of nature.

Just left our little campground. Great off the beaten path if you want remote car camping while visiting the north shore. Cleanest bathrooms, good fishing spots, water spigot with clean water, thimbleberry/raspberry bushes, pet friendly with plenty of room between sites. A bit rocky for tent stakes and yes there is still a fire ban, but it was a good time.

We have stayed at Codger’s Cove for the past two years and can say that we have really enjoyed the resort. The resort is very well maintained, clean and well managed. There are many fun activities planned throughout the season to entertain adults and kids. I would highly recommend Codger’s Cove!

We have been at Codgers Cove for 3 years now. Very friendly atmosphere. Lots of adult activities on the weekends. Good fishing lake, especially for pan fish on the docks. Well maintained and clean bathrooms are a Plus!

Facilities are fantastic (super clean). The permanent campers are wonderfully friendly. There are not a lot of weekend campsites, and the beach is pretty dirty (some sort of blue algae), but overall, it's a great place to camp. Oh, and be prepared for the train nearby.
