About Saganaga Lake #39

Campground in Minnesota.

Saganaga Lake #39 offers a remote and pristine camping experience in northeastern Minnesota, nestled in the heart of Superior National Forest. This public campground provides access to one of the region's most beautiful and expansive lakes, making it an ideal destination for those seeking solitude and natural beauty.

The campground's location on Saganaga Lake puts you in the heart of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, one of the most protected and pristine wilderness regions in the United States. The lake itself spans over 25,000 acres and is known for its crystal-clear waters, rocky shorelines, and dense boreal forest surroundings. The landscape here is characterized by the Canadian Shield geology, with ancient granite formations and countless islands dotting the water.

This is exceptional territory for outdoor enthusiasts of all types. Anglers will find excellent fishing opportunities, with walleye, northern pike, and lake trout inhabiting these cold, clean waters. Canoeists and paddlers consider Saganaga Lake a premier destination, with numerous routes leading into the Boundary Waters for multi-day expeditions or day trips. The peaceful setting makes it perfect for those wanting to disconnect from the busy world and immerse themselves in nature.

Beyond water activities, the surrounding Superior National Forest offers miles of hiking trails, wildlife viewing opportunities, and photography possibilities. The area is home to moose, black bears, eagles, and countless other northern species. The changing seasons here are dramatic and beautiful, from the vibrant greens of summer to the spectacular fall colors and the silent beauty of winter.

The remote location means this campground appeals to visitors seeking authentic wilderness experiences rather than modern conveniences. It's a destination for serious outdoor enthusiasts, families who love backcountry adventures, and anyone wanting to truly escape into Minnesota's natural heritage. The proximity to Grand Portage and the North Shore of Lake Superior also makes this a strategic base for exploring multiple regional attractions.

Wonderful place to camp. Owners very nice and helpful. Has full hookups which is a plus. Have large pull through sites which is wonderful for bigger campers. Definitely would stay here again. Only slightly bad thing was the price. A little more than we normally pay. Still would highly recommend this place!

"Rooms" is irrelevant since this is a campground. "Service" - there is a recreation hall on the property as well as some other amenities. If the bathrooms were kept clean, it would be fantastic.
