Shell Lake is popular during peak season. Reserve 2-4 weeks in advance for weekends and holidays.
Most parks have check-in after 1:00 PM and check-out by 11:00 AM. Call ahead if you'll arrive late.
Minnesota weather can change quickly. Pack layers and check the forecast for Shell Lake.
Don't miss local attractions near Shell Lake. Ask the camp host for hidden gems and trails.

We are return campers. Office staff always pleasant and helpful. Lots to do in and around Shell lake. They have four rows of camping in this city campground first three rows are full hook up beginning at Lakefront working their way back. Fourth row and back which is closest to Main Street and the parking lot is only water and electric, The rest are full hook up. There is a large, nice sandy beach... We are return campers. They have four rows of camping in this city campground first three rows are full hook up beginning at Lakefront working their way back. Fourth row and back which is closest to Main Street and the parking lot is only water and electric, The rest are full hook up. There is a large, nice sandy beach, fishing pier, boat launch. Prices are good. The one bad thing with the back 2 rows, there are pine trees which drop sap onto your vehicles. Also there are a lot of kids running thru sites and riding bikes in circles without parents paying attention. And lots of dogs which I love but many people do not put them on leashes which presents a problem when you have your dog on a leash. The three times we have been here we have always found it fairly windy. But that’s what happens when your by the lake I suppose. We probably will return here again at some point. However the reservation system is pretty competitive as its favorite for many. There are also seasonal summer people who get a lot of the good sites the lakefront.

Had site 5 on water for 10 days then moved to site 8 for additional 5. Loved the community of RV that are there for summer. The black flies were big issue at one point but when wind picked up they left. Loved having beach, restaurants, bars, and community events within walking distance. I wish the office would actually open when hours are posted. 10am should be 10 not 10:20 and “be back from... Had site 5 on water for 10 days then moved to site 8 for additional 5. Get irritating when you’re waiting to buy ice or do business. Other than that we loved our stay. Played in water, kayaked, loved the cool shore breeze. Would have stayed longer if we could have.

Very nice, big beach, clear water, shaded playground, and lots of shops next door. Also great for fishing , and if u get a water view you won't regret it.
