About BLUE BLUFF CAMPGROUND (ABERDEEN MS)

Federal campground in Mississippi.

Blue Bluff Campground in Aberdeen, Mississippi offers a peaceful retreat in the heart of the Northeast Mississippi region. This public campground provides an excellent base for exploring one of Mississippi's charming historic towns while enjoying the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape. The campground welcomes RV travelers seeking a quieter alternative to busy commercial parks, with a setting that emphasizes the natural environment and community atmosphere.

Aberdeen itself carries significant historical importance as the birthplace of Mississippi's literary heritage. The town is home to the iconic Rowan Oak, the former home of acclaimed author William Faulkner, which stands as one of the most visited literary landmarks in the United States. For those interested in history and culture, Aberdeen provides engaging walking tours through its downtown district, where visitors can explore well-preserved Victorian architecture and visit local museums that chronicle the region's rich past.

The location makes it convenient for outdoor enthusiasts looking to enjoy Mississippi's natural features. The surrounding area offers opportunities for fishing, with several nearby water access points and creeks that attract anglers throughout the year. Nature lovers appreciate the rolling terrain characteristic of North Mississippi, which provides scenic drives and pleasant day trips through the countryside. The cooler autumn months transform the landscape beautifully, making fall an especially popular time to visit.

Beyond Faulkner's legacy, Aberdeen hosts several community events throughout the year that showcase local culture and traditions. The downtown area features charming shops, local restaurants, and gathering spots where visitors can experience genuine Mississippi hospitality. For RV travelers, this means authentic small-town experiences without the overwhelming crowds of larger tourist destinations.

The strategic location in Northeast Mississippi puts travelers within reasonable driving distance of other regional attractions, natural areas, and cultural sites. Whether you're interested in literary history, outdoor recreation, or simply enjoying the slower pace of a traditional Southern town, Blue Bluff Campground serves as a comfortable home base for your Mississippi adventure.

We stayed in site # 78 right on the waters edge. The campground is very nice, but the area is very isolated. The lake view was nice, but there was quite a bit of litter in the water that was blown to the shoreline. The campground had just recently replaced all the Water pipes and spigots, but hadn't yet had a chance to landscape the construction areas and with some heavy rain, the campground was very muddy. The price of progress I guess, and I'm sure that with a little time the vegetation will restore the area. Restrooms and showers were clean and warm

UPDATE: as we were leaving, my husband asked the attendants to mark us as an early departure so we could get a refund. UPDATE: as we were leaving, my husband asked the attendants to mark us as an early departure so we could get a refund. Mrs. Shoemaker said “y’all may not like this campground but it’s the best around and you don’t have to come back!” The most rude and unprofessional experience we’ve had at a campground. Unbelievable. IF YOU WANT A SWIMMING HOLE OUTSIDE YOUR CAMPER DOOR, THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU. This campground has potential to be great. However, we booked 2 campsites and upon arrival all but the gravel pad on the site was flooded. You could not step out of the camper without stepping in water. We spoke to the park host and requested to move sites. He told us they couldn’t do anything but if we wanted to book another site on the app and PAY FOR IT we could. We told them we were gonna have to go to a different campground and one of the park host stated” well leave then.” These spots should have never been available to book to begin with. We’ve camped at many places and have never been treated so poorly. We left and went to Town Creek Campground and had a great experience.

This is an amazing spot. If you're lucky, you'll get a site right on the Tom Bigbee waterway under the shade of pines and hardwoods. At first I was taken aback by the Mississippi culture; apprehensive at first but kind and welcoming. This place is great for a holiday weekend -- it's packed with campers outdoing one another with the lights at night around their sites. Kids on bikes are everywhere and everyone is friendly. All for $22 a night. While you're here, make sure you visit some of the local towns (like Aberdeen and Columbus) to get a flavor of the area. Also, there's a great local restaurant called Friendship House that serves steaks and seafood (catfish and shrimp).

It was Columbus Day weekend. Candy wrappers were everywhere and the bathrooms were trashed. There was so much trash along the road and clothing, toilet paper, and other nasty stuff in the bathroom. Kids pretty much wrecked the park. Hosts don’t do anything, a person came around twice in the 5 days we were there. Could be a great park.
