Roosevelt State Park is a good park in terms of size, variety of terrain and trails, water sports, picnic lodges, basic amenities and opportunities to see flora and fauna in action. Facilities like restrooms are pretty basic which either means non-intrusive (if you prefer the more primitive) or subpar depending on your perspective. The knock on RSP is that it lacks anything very distinctive. Lakes, trails, picnic tables, forested areas, it covers all the usual park features. I don't know if that is fair criticism or not but to a frequent state park goer, RSP seemed rather ordinary. Perhaps the problem is me, being too jaded. Shade Seeking Sinay says: The park has plenty of places to....well, park. And the location is convenient for access from US 20. So, why not drop by, get a little exercise and fresh air, and enjoy a nice, relaxing picnic lunch before heading back out on the road?

We stayed in cabin 3 last week. All the furniture and appliances are brand new. Don’t forget to bring paper towels, a can opener and maybe a dishcloth and dish towel if you don’t want to use the bathroom ones. Otherwise, they had everything we needed already. We truly enjoyed the two day stop over at Roosevelt State Park. Although we didn’t explore the whole park, the campground was terrific and very peaceful. We were right on the water in what appeared to be newly paved, full hookup sites. Absolutely perfect! WalMart is not too far away if you need essentials that you can’t find at the convenience store right outside the park. We will definitely stop here again if driving thru the area.

Renovations to sites are amazing. Lake views and plenty of space to relax in your site. Plenty of hiking trails and other activities including the lake in the summer time. Also the cabins were all updated and are very nice and well appointed.
