Best local campout our scout troop has had! We adore it and it's perfect for scouts and low key camping. The organization is friendly and heroic for keeping such a treasure open to our community!

Camp Takimina's grounds are unlike any other. We got married here and it's truly magical. It's calm, peaceful and far enough away from the city that you can see the stars clearly. Large stately trees with cleared underbrush make for great photos and the miles of trails only add to its beauty. We had a great time camping here with our toddler’s! It was a personal experience. It was not too far from town but also a good distance that gives you a seclusion feel. Check in was easy. Communication was great. Camp Takimina would be great for a big group to get together, families wanting to camp (alone/with friends), or an individual to do backpack camping. Lot of land with trails to cover. We... We had a great time camping here with our toddler’s! It was a personal experience. Really lovely grounds. I worked here for the Southern Boone Area YMCA's summer camp and they've really made a really special place... I have more acreage 10 miles away and love exploring the woods, but my underbrush is pervasive, not the case here. Lots of space for kids to play in the woods safely without bugs and plants getting in the way.
