Wonderful camping area for small to large scout troops. There is a lot of mud on the site and perhaps the park system could plant some vegetation to replenish what has been trampled? Facilities are in need of some maintenance but it is nice to have the vault toilet and prepared Fire ring areas. Plus, there are several picnic tables and access to the trail system. There is a lot of mud on the site and perhaps the park system could plant some vegetation to replenish what has been trampled? Facilities are in need of some maintenance but it is nice to have the vault toilet and prepared Fire ring areas. Plus, there are several picnic tables and access to the trail system. There is a wonderful large open field area for setting up tents or having a area for games and events. There was a large pile of provided firewood, which was very convenient. There is also a Hammock village which holds 6 hammocks. One drawback, is that the trail system travels directly through the special use area. It would be nice for the state parks to move the trail over a ways so that it does not travel directly through the occupied campsite. Overall, four stars.

The Special Use Area provides a really nice space for youth & non-profit groups. We enjoyed a very pleasant evening this past week with COMO Trail Association at their annual volunteer gathering celebrating a successful year.

Great area for nonprofit youth organizations to use. We went in end of May with cool nights. We had no bugs so we slept under the stars. The vaulted toilet was clean. Some trails come to this location. The site has no water, so make sure to bring some. Overall it is a nice secluded area to camp with youth organization.
