About Albright Visitor Center

Here you can gather park information, orient yourself to the rest of the park (including road conditions, and campground and lodge availability), shop for souvenirs, explore exhibits to learn more about the wildlife and history of Yellowstone, join a ranger program, pick up a fishing permit (fees are payable by debit or credit card), or use the restrooms.

Nestled in the heart of Montana's natural wonderland, Albright Visitor Center offers RV travelers an exceptional gateway to one of America's most iconic destinations. Located at the north entrance of Yellowstone National Park, this public campground serves as the perfect base camp for exploring the geothermal wonders, wildlife viewing opportunities, and pristine wilderness that make this region legendary among outdoor enthusiasts.

The Albright area sits at an elevation that provides cooler temperatures and stunning mountain vistas, making it an ideal location during the warmer months when Yellowstone draws visitors from around the globe. The nearby Mammoth Hot Springs area features incredible travertine terraces that seem to defy nature's rules, with cascading mineral-rich waters creating formations that look like something from another world. These natural attractions are within easy reach, allowing you to experience world-class natural wonders without lengthy drives from your RV.

For wildlife photographers and nature lovers, this location is nothing short of paradise. The northern range of Yellowstone is known for abundant wildlife activity, where you might spot bison grazing peacefully, elk bugling during autumn, and if you're fortunate, grizzly bears and wolves in their natural habitat. Early morning and evening drives along the park roads offer some of the best viewing opportunities, and the Visitor Center itself provides excellent information about current wildlife sightings and park conditions.

The town of Gardiner, Montana sits just outside the park boundary and offers convenient access to supplies, dining, and services. The drive through the dramatic Gardner Canyon is scenic and memorable, with the Yellowstone River carving through impressive rock formations. Local outfitters can arrange guided fishing trips, horseback riding, and other adventures that complement your RV camping experience.

This location appeals particularly to national park enthusiasts, photographers seeking dramatic natural landscapes, retirees exploring America's treasures, and families eager to introduce children to Yellowstone's wonders. The campground's proximity to the park entrance means you can maximize your time exploring and minimizing travel time, allowing for more relaxation and enjoyment during your stay.

We had a fantastic winter day driving the north side of Yellowstone! Even with the strong snow, it was a beautiful experience. We saw so many animals: bison, coyotes, bighorn sheep, and elk. We stopped at the Albright Visitor Center, and my daughter loved the exhibitions. It was the perfect place to warm up and learn more about the wildlife we saw outside. Highly recommend for families!

Near the north side entrance of Yellowstone, located in a well functional area with general store, post office, gas station, and of course the visitor center. It’s crowded during summer, hard to find parking. Inside there are exhibitions, gift shop, restrooms. Picnic tables in the back for family rest and enjoy the shades. In the front yard there is a park ranger shows bear fur and animals waste. A little cramped when crowded since this building was created before anticipating 21st century crowds. There was so much interesting information! We loved seeing the taxidermy animals and hands on activity. This one also has some great historical pictures on the lower level that are not to miss!
