About Goose Lake

Campground in Montana.

Nestled in the heart of Montana's natural landscape, Goose Lake offers a peaceful retreat for RV travelers seeking authentic outdoor experiences away from crowded commercial parks. This intimate public campground features just six sites, ensuring a quieter, more personal camping experience where you can truly connect with nature without the hustle and bustle of larger facilities.

The setting around Goose Lake provides the quintessential Montana experience that draws visitors year after year. The lake itself serves as a stunning focal point, offering opportunities for fishing enthusiasts to cast their lines in search of local fish species. The water reflects the surrounding mountains and sky, creating picturesque views that change throughout the day as light and weather shift across the landscape. Early mornings at the lake are particularly magical, with mist rising off the water and wildlife becoming active as the day begins.

For those who enjoy outdoor recreation, the area surrounding Goose Lake provides numerous ways to spend your time. Hiking trails in the region offer varying difficulty levels, allowing both casual walkers and more experienced hikers to explore the Montana backcountry. Bird watching is popular here, as the lake and surrounding habitat attract various species throughout the seasons. The relatively undeveloped nature of this public campground means you're close to wild Montana rather than commercial attractions, which appeals to travelers seeking solitude and natural beauty.

The small size of Goose Lake campground is actually one of its greatest strengths. With only six sites, you won't find yourself surrounded by dozens of other RVs. This makes it an ideal choice for visitors who value peace and quiet, who want to stargaze without light pollution, and who appreciate the chance to hear natural sounds rather than generator noise from neighboring sites. The intimate scale also means the campground fills quickly during peak seasons, so planning ahead is worthwhile.

This location suits a variety of travelers: retirees seeking calm places to park their RVs, families wanting to introduce children to outdoor camping, couples looking for romantic getaways, and solitary travelers on personal adventures. The straightforward, no-frills nature of a public campground appeals to those who prioritize natural surroundings over amenities and creature comforts.

My wife booked this amazing place, the boat has a dock that is locked , we love the volleyball court and absolutely loved the sceneries and the fun staff at the store. Every year for 10 years we’ve gone to Kim’s marina and they always were clean and nice until the new owners in the last five years have owned it they are nice Luke and his wife but the problem is it’s gotten dirty and never kept up... We were double booked on both our trips last year and were booked first even months prior to the other tenant that they let have our spot. We had been booking with them for years always the same spot in August and we always booked by Jan this year we decided to try something new and I’ll tell you what I’ve never seen such clean camp area and lots of showers to use huge chess board lots of room at our sites and my seadoo was safe at the dock. Great job Goose Bay marina it’s been amazing and I love your staff and cleaniness and thanks for making us feel welcome! We’ll be back every year now !! Thanks for being are new home Awyay from home Sincerely, Greg & Jasmin

Clean campground and site #50 was level. Sewer hookup is threaded (not cross threaded) and water pressure was roughly 55 p.s.i. with 30\50\110 outlets. The ladies in the store were friendly, courteous and engaging. The store/office is not a Walmart so keep the expectations to what you’d find at an average campsite mercantile. There’s not much for shade and the trash receptacles are 33 gallon size cans, no dumpsters visible. There’s an RV dump island with flush for $10 a visit if you’re camping nearby and don’t want hookups. The standard rate for full service is roughly $38 per night. Although this location falls under the Bureau of Reclamation, the Interagency Annual Pass (America the Beautiful pass) is not honored here. We comfortably fit a 40’ Class A with toad and nothing was tight, leaning or concerning with the road in or around the park. I’d give it 5 stars but my fire pit wasn’t cleaned from the previous guest. Not a big fan lighting whatever’s in a pit that I have no clue off. Be warned, if you inspect your site for fit and function prior to checking in, you’ll get a slight browbeating. Not a big deal but the site host didn’t seem to understand folks pulling toads often want to verify they can navigate/fit rather than blindly nodding everything’s good sight unseen.

This is a very well executed campground. Very easy to drive through and park in my spot. Nice landscaping, facilities and walking paths. Free water fill for campers and a couple of nice ladies at the well stocked store. Great location on the lake, wildlife abound and we even had an osprey nest right near our site. Goose Bay Marina and Campground is a lovely BLM property operated by a high functioning concessionaire. The price is right for electrical hookup in a spacious site. Water spigots are plentiful throughout the property, as are bathrooms. The showers are clean and the water hot. They do charge for the showers -- around $2.25 for five minutes. The general store carries a variety of items. The camp ho... Goose Bay Marina and Campground is a lovely BLM property operated by a high functioning concessionaire. They do charge for the showers -- around $2.25 for five minutes. The general store carries a variety of items. The camp hosts -- I mostly dealt with Dave and Connie -- are responsive and carry out their duties with pride. The lake is beautiful and large. I peacefully paddled every day and loved every minute. I road to the property is gravel with some washboard areas. but it's OK if you take it slow.

Ok campground but no shade or landscaping to speak of. We did have a great site with a lake view. Showers take quarters but are clean. The road on the way in is a terrible gravel road that will rattle your whole life apart. Good cell signal with Verizon. I probably wouldn’t stay again but it was good for what we needed.
