Lovely area, stunning views and lots of hiking options. Only a few sites to accommodate our camper van. Most are best for tents. Arrived early evening (5:30ish) on a Thursday and stayed 1 night. Encountered a couple of ATV riders packing it in for the day. Can imagine it could have the potential to be busy with dirt bikes and ATVs on the weekends. A long drive to get to Steamboat. We were told by both a law enforcement employee and the ATVers not to take the road to the left (west) past the lake down as there are parts that require high clearance. If you have a vehicle that can handle it, it cuts the trip in half.

Beautiful secluded spot. Can get a bit breezy & chilly at nights. Higher elevation than most accessible lakes. The drive from Dry lake is very bumpy, some might say rough. There are large rocks in road but can be driven around. The drive from Coalmont is about an hour but so much easier it isnt funny. Its a beautiful drive as well.

Breath taking views in late summer. Like camping inside a painting. From Walden into the mountains the road was smooth, but within the park it was very rocky and a little washed out, not keen on taking my sedan up there again but there was not any damage.

Great views of Summit Lake. Camp sites are relatively close together. Bathroom was not clean, but I didn't go for the clean bathroom so not a big deal to me.

Didn’t make it up there from Steamboat as we just had a sedan. About a mile up from dry lake is a bad washout ditch that even trucks would struggle with. I heard they are talking about funding to repair road but obviously no progress as of sept 2024 ☹️
