About Devils Tower KOA

Campground in Montana.

Located in the shadow of one of America's most iconic natural landmarks, Devils Tower KOA offers RV travelers a remarkable camping experience in northeastern Wyoming, just across the border from Montana. This KOA campground serves as the perfect base camp for exploring the mesmerizing Devils Tower National Monument, a striking 1,267-foot columnar rock formation that rises dramatically from the surrounding landscape and captivates visitors from around the world.

The campground itself provides a comfortable, well-maintained setting where you can park your RV and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the Black Hills region. Waking up with views of the tower in the distance creates an unforgettable backdrop for your morning coffee, and the area's clear night skies offer exceptional stargazing opportunities away from urban light pollution. The surrounding landscape features rolling terrain, ponderosa pine forests, and a sense of peaceful solitude that many RV travelers seek when escaping their everyday routines.

Devils Tower National Monument is undoubtedly the area's main attraction, drawing visitors interested in geology, rock climbing, hiking, and photography. The tower itself offers multiple hiking trails of varying difficulty levels, from gentle walks that circle the base to more challenging routes that provide different perspectives of this geological wonder. Whether you're an avid photographer hoping to capture the tower in different lighting conditions or a casual hiker looking for a moderate outdoor adventure, the monument provides endless opportunities for exploration.

Beyond the tower, the region offers additional outdoor recreation that appeals to the RV camping community. Nearby lakes and streams provide opportunities for fishing enthusiasts, while the Black Hills National Forest offers extensive trail systems for hiking and mountain biking. The small town of Hulett, Wyoming, located near the campground, provides essential services and a charming rural character that complements the outdoor experience.

This destination appeals particularly to nature lovers, adventure seekers, photography enthusiasts, and families wanting to introduce children to iconic American landmarks. Those interested in geology will find the tower's unique formation story fascinating, while outdoor adventurers appreciate the variety of recreational opportunities in the surrounding region. The campground's location makes it an ideal stopping point for road trippers traveling through the Northern Great Plains or those planning extended stays to thoroughly explore the area.

Getting into and out of our spot was easy, and hooking up the RV was quick and straightforward. The Wi‑Fi worked great, the staff was responsive and friendly, and the campground was very clean and well kept. There were also great laundry facilities on the property, which made it convenient to catch up on chores during our stay. We even enjoyed visiting the very cute general store attached to the KOA. Overall, it was a fantastic stop, and we would definitely visit again.

We were here in Sept 2025. What a view from our site. Super nice park and the store had ICE CREAM. Live entertainment. To walk around the base of the tower was a great walk and gave a good perspective. Live bison and longhorns roaming about near the base. Not much else in the immediate vicinity but we were there to see the tower. Seeing the climbers at night was cool. We were able to walk our dogs... We were here in Sept 2025. We were able to walk our dogs on nearby roads where we saw a horse farm and there’s a brewery/saloon nearby.

Absolutely loved this campground! The view of Devils Tower is breathtaking; waking up to that skyline was unforgettable. The facilities are top-notch: restrooms and showers were spotless, and the little store had everything we needed. Best of all, we got to watch Close Encounters of the Third Kind right here, where parts of it were filmed. Such a surreal and awesome experience. Highly recommend!

Beautiful!!! Everything about this magical setting! The best pictures I got of the Tower were not from my hike, but from camp. Watched Close Encounters with the Tower as a backdrop, watching the sunset and lights of climbers coming down in the dark, all great memories of a lovely stay. Super friendly staff as well!

Internet is sufficient for smaller actives, bring your starlink if you want to game or watch video. Staff are all great and good gift shop and cafe. We really like the breakfast french toast bacon and tater tots. Be sure to book a wagen ride through the ranch and watch the movie that was filmed on site.
