About Fort Peck RV Park

Campground in Montana.

Fort Peck RV Park offers a wonderful Montana camping experience in one of the state's most scenic and historically significant regions. Located near the Fort Peck Dam and Reservoir, this RV park serves as an ideal base for exploring the vast open landscapes of northeastern Montana, where the Missouri River carves through rolling prairie and badlands.

The Fort Peck area is steeped in American history and natural wonder. The massive Fort Peck Dam, completed in 1940, creates one of the largest reservoirs in the United States by surface area. The surrounding region tells stories of Native American heritage, frontier settlement, and geological drama spanning millions of years. Visitors can explore the Fort Peck Indian Reservation, learn about the indigenous Assiniboine and Sioux peoples, and visit cultural sites and museums that bring this rich history to life.

Outdoor recreation opportunities abound in this part of Montana. The reservoir itself is a paradise for fishing enthusiasts, with walleye, northern pike, and chinook salmon drawing anglers from across the country. The shoreline provides scenic camping views and peaceful spots for relaxation. Beyond water activities, the area offers excellent hiking trails, wildlife viewing, and photography opportunities. The rugged badlands landscape creates stunning vistas, especially during sunrise and sunset, making this a photographer's dream destination.

The wider Fort Peck region appeals to travelers seeking authentic Montana experiences away from crowded tourist areas. Nature lovers appreciate the remote setting and abundant wildlife, including deer, elk, and numerous bird species. History buffs find themselves immersed in stories of the Old West and Native American culture. Families enjoy the laid-back atmosphere and outdoor recreation options suitable for all ages and activity levels.

Whether you're spending a few days or settling in for a longer stay, Fort Peck RV Park provides comfortable access to one of Montana's most distinctive landscapes. Very good campgrouns. It's next to the Missouri River and my favorite thing to do there is fish off a smaller dock in the campground. It's realy good the only exception is barely any trees but all in all its a realy good campground

Wonderful experience! One of the largest campsites we have ever had! There were no sewer or water hookups but that was no problem. The shower house was the cleanest one I have been in. The bath building had to be new. The interpretative center was well worth the visit. Would definitely go again! This campground was a great value.

Really nice campground, most spots are well spaced, except #19 if you have a TT. We nosed our MH in for a better view. Overall, this place is great, really nice nature path, dump station outside the park and water stations throughout. Three stall showers and clean restrooms. Ice and firewood sold at the front, 30amp electric.
