About Hardin KOA Journey

Campground in Montana.

Hardin KOA Journey offers RV travelers a welcoming base for exploring the rich history and natural beauty of south-central Montana. Located in Hardin, this KOA property provides convenient access to some of the region's most significant cultural and outdoor attractions, making it an ideal stopping point for those seeking authentic Montana experiences.

The Hardin area sits at the crossroads of important historical narratives. Just minutes away, the Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument preserves one of America's most pivotal moments in history. Visitors can spend meaningful hours exploring the battlefield, learning about the complex events of 1876, and understanding the perspectives of both the Native American tribes and the U.S. cavalry involved. The monument's visitor center offers educational resources and interpretive programs that bring this important history to life.

Beyond the battlefield, the surrounding landscape showcases Montana's dramatic natural character. The Big Horn Mountains rise to the south, offering scenic drives and outdoor recreation opportunities for those seeking hiking, photography, or simply taking in expansive vistas. The Crow Indian Reservation surrounds much of the area, and travelers will appreciate learning about Crow culture and contemporary tribal communities. The region's wide-open spaces, rolling prairies, and big Montana skies create that sense of freedom many RV travelers seek.

Hardin itself is a genuine small Montana town where visitors can experience authentic rural life and hospitality. Local businesses, cafes, and shops reflect the character of the region and its ranching heritage. The downtown area provides basic services and supplies for RVers, including fuel and grocery options.

This location appeals particularly to history enthusiasts, Native American culture explorers, and travelers seeking quieter, more introspective camping experiences away from crowded tourist destinations. Families interested in educational travel will find meaningful activities, while outdoor enthusiasts appreciate the proximity to mountain recreation. Whether you're spending a night or staying longer, Hardin KOA Journey serves as a comfortable home base for discovering one of Montana's most historically rich regions.

Sooooo. This may be redundant to the previous reviews. However as of Oct 27th of 2025 , the owners are the key to this park. Yes. Clean, well taken care of, but the owners make every effort to make you feel welcomed, and do almost anything you make think of to be a great host. We think if you're anyway near this park it should be your first option. Michelle n Gregg

This is a great place to stay. The owners were super friendly and accommodating. The dog park is exceptional. It was much bigger than other KOA dog park and it was clean. I would recommend replacing the sheer curtains in the women’s bathroom with something more private as you could look in and see everything when walking by. The men’s restroom did not smell good either.

Great KOA! Owners are so accomodating, helpful and friendly. For me the most awesome thing was there DOG WASH ROOM! Wow, did my dogs need baths and it is the best set up! These owners have only been here 2 years and they have great vision and are making improvements. That said, the laundry room was great, the pool was great, the store and pizza also great! Beautiful location. Nice, peaceful and quiet with a beautiful sunset view. The campground is very clean, including the pool and playground. We LOVED the little store/gift shop and pizza shop. And the pizza is SO good! Husband and wife owners are very kind and helpful. :) Thank you for a peaceful rest and the yummy dinner that we didnt have to cook! Haha.
