Place is full with parked camper. Seems they come and secure a spot and leave trailer unattended. We got the last spot. Pack in pack out. Free camping donation requested. You had better love trains. Price is reasonable that if you fish. But trash cans would help keep it clean.

I would have given 4 stars but the area can get noisy at night. People seem to come all hours of the night and drop off campers and leaving headlights on, it became annoying. I’m sure they’re staging the campers for the weekend. The host leaves during the evening. It’s beautiful and mostly peaceful during the day. Primitive sites with pit toilets, bring your own toilet paper.

Spacious campground with toilet pits. We were there June 29 and many people were lighting fireworks, which stopped around 10:30. It seemed most people were in RVs but there were a few folks in tents. It seemed most people were in RVs but there were a few folks in tents. Because there is no electricity, many campers run generators. We didn’t have any problem finding a space in the overflow area that was a good distance away from others. The campground is very close to train tracks (signage coming in boasts that more than 10,000 train cars go by each day and that seems very accurate), but the trains only blow 2x going by, so the trains aren’t bothersome. It was neat to watch them go by, as they are incredibly impressive with all the cars. Many trains used 3-5 engines because they were pulling so many cars! Our favorite aspect of this campground is that wild sage grows all over the ground wafting the most wonderful aroma into the air. It was very fragrant ♥️

This was an amazing free (donations encouraged) campground! I only stayed for one night while on a road trip in June, but it was so peaceful! It's not maintained real well. There are no hookups. The bathrooms are kind of gross, to be honest. It's kind of like the wild west out here. I guess that's why we like it.
