This is not just any campsite. I work seasonally on either side of the US, so I have to cross this nation twice a year and no matter what alternate route I take, I will always stop and stay at Peaceful Prairie. Lisa is a genuine stewardess of the land and she views the land less as hers than she views herself as belonging to it. She has offered me such a warm and caring welcome every time I stay there. Darling Cyrus, the big, fluffy Pyrenees dog with his booming bark, has always been delighted to welcome me and I was so pleased he extended the same adorably slobbery welcome to my dog, the very first canine companion I’ve had the chance to bring. My dog took as much a liking to the place as I and this is certainly an endorsement! I’ve seen many changes, from alterations in the landscape after the canyon flooded, to the absence of the dear sweet horses that Lisa saw across the rainbow bridge. One thing does not change: the beauty of the land, its plants, birds, reptiles, and other creatures. I am so very grateful to Lisa for sharing her own little paradise with us.

Lisa was fantastic! Super sweet, super accommodating and very helpful with helping us find a spot to eat and hike. Lisa recently installed an outdoor shower and it may not be super duper fancy, but let me tell you how happy you’re going to be when the warm water hits your skin. It’s private and you can still catch some of the views over the tin walls while you're washing up. Overall, HIGHLY recommend this spot. I promise you won’t be disappointed. It was so peaceful that we wished we had stayed for an extra night.

My partner and I are on a long distance bike packing trip and we were in need of a shower, cold water and a place to land for the night after a hot day. Lisa’s campsite was perfect. The views were amazing. We even got to hangout with Tigger and Martha her horse and donkey. All of our needs were met and we woke up feeling refreshed. Such a lovely stay.

There are more impressive landscapes, but nowhere else is there this mix of a charming and touching landscape, which you have all to yourself thanks to the very spacious pitches, simple but functional facilities (everything you need is available, including a hot water shower with a view of the prairie), and a host who knows how to make your stay at Peaceful Prairie something special with her energetic, open and very generous manner. It almost doesn't get any better than this!

Peaceful Prairies was a magical place to stay! We met Lisa upon arrival, she was a very friendly and knowledgeable host. She showed us to our campsite which was well maintained, with gorgeous views of the bluffs in the day and the stars at night. The true star of the campsite was Tigger the horse, who was quick to make friends with us over some pats and treats. We will definitely be back!
