We decided to risk it and stay until morning. The dreaded knock on the door came just after 8 am. Grant was very kind when we told him our intention to pay when the gas station opened up with ATM access. He permitted us the ability to square up with the front office on our way out. What a relief! (Thank you, Grant!) The recreational area included several play areas, fishing, lakes, and restrooms. The area is well maintained with so many unique views and majestic trees. The sites are level, and so many are easy to pull in and park. If we ever cross the interstate 80 again by Gibbon, Nebraska, we'll be sure to stop by here again. Thank you, Windmill State Park, for showing us the beauty and hospitality of Nebraska: the good place

Grant is amazing! He's the park ranger here. We met so many amazing people too. They have water to fill your tank at every row. There are a bunch of lakes and they take really good care of the park. We had actually broken down on our move across the country. Grant helped us get things figured out and because of how nice him and his family were we actually decided to just stay here in kearney instead of moving on. He also got me hooked up with a job at one of the other parks near by. They have some pretty nice trails to walk and a beach to swim at. Has showers bathrooms and laundry. Would for sure recommend staying here. Give me a thumbs up if you enjoyed this review to help me co tinge to leave reviews.

Quite a pleasant recreational park, even for a short stop. There is a nice, easy and short Hiking Trail, ideal for an active rest and to get some fresh air.

Great place to camp for the night! Luke, who was working the night shift at the entrance to the park answered my phone call on the first ring as we were driving there. He was extremely helpful as I asked questions like how many spots were available and how we would get a spot if no one was there which would be anytime after 9:30pm. He was extremely helpful as I asked questions like how many spots were available and how we would get a spot if no one was there which would be anytime after 9:30pm. There was an out of state fee that was $12 in addition to a $15 cost for a campsite. The facilities were nice and the campsites were clean and well taken care of. They were all grass with a table and a fire pit. Like others have mentioned, it does get loud from the freeway right next to the campground even with choosing the furthest non electric spot in the park. I would definitely recommend bringing ear plugs if you stay here to get a better night's sleep. The morning was beautiful.
