Nestled in the scenic Pine Ridge region of northwestern Nebraska, Chadron State Park offers RV travelers a peaceful retreat surrounded by ponderosa pines and rolling hills. This 86-site campground provides a genuine escape into nature while maintaining the comfort and convenience modern RV travelers appreciate. The park sits at an elevation that brings cooler summer temperatures, making it an ideal destination when other regions experience intense heat.

The landscape here tells the story of Nebraska's geological diversity. Whether you're pulling in during the golden days of autumn or the green months of summer, the scenery provides a stunning backdrop for your camping adventure.

Fishing enthusiasts will find plenty to appreciate, with opportunities to cast a line and spend peaceful hours by the water. The boat ramp provides easy water access for those who want to explore from a different perspective. The park's natural setting creates excellent conditions for hiking and wildlife viewing, allowing you to step away from your RV and immerse yourself in the surrounding landscape.

The campground itself is well-designed for RV camping comfort. Full dump stations make managing your rig straightforward, while the availability of showers and modern restrooms means you don't have to sacrifice convenience for scenery. Fire rings and picnic tables at each site create the perfect setup for evening gatherings and meals under the stars. Pet-friendly policies mean your four-legged companions can enjoy the adventure too.

This destination appeals to families seeking outdoor education, anglers looking for quality fishing time, and anyone wanting to experience Nebraska's less-traveled natural wonders. The year-round operation means you can time your visit to your preference, whether that's summer camping or a peaceful off-season getaway. Chadron State Park represents the kind of destination that reminds RV travelers why they love the road.

Very nice small park with a lovely campground. The scenic loop road goes through a beautiful landscape and the campground is very nice. The sites all have irises planted at the posts, wish they had been blooming, we were too early. There were several nice handicapped sites all paved with concrete. There are reservable sites and lots of first come first serve, which they confusingly call “walk in”.... Very nice small park with a lovely campground. There were several nice handicapped sites all paved with concrete. There are reservable sites and lots of first come first serve, which they confusingly call “walk in”. The higher numbered sites are nicer and there are some “walk ins” in that area too. It is farther away from the noisy nearby road. You have to pay for showers here - this is a new one for me! It was pretty expensive to camp also because we aren’t NE residents so we had to pay an extra vehicle fee. There are several nice trails within the park for hiking and horseback riding and a stable for trail rides within the park, not sure of that cost.

Beautiful park, wonderful campsites, and clean bathrooms. The camp ground hosts did a wonderful job maintaining them. We really enjoyed the amenities the park offered. The archery/indoor shooting range was fun. The trading post was adorable and the staff were so friendly. There is an outdoor pool but we did not go to it. We had a nice relaxing few days there.

I will say that I was disappointed to have to pay for my shower! $0.25/minute is mighty steep and I already paid for the campsite!

What a wonderful place to stay. The Chadron State Park is embedded into the National Forest of Nebraska. The infrastructure is perfect and the RV campsite is clean and spacious.

Chadron was our 3rd camp on trip and only stayed 2 nights. Very pretty scenery and fairly easy hiking trails. Only 1 area is for tents. This park felt more like a resort. The few staff that I dealt with was super friendly. My only complaint was the sound of the highway! Trucks can echo pretty loud at campsite. That's why I only gave 4-star.
