Winter camping was terrific! I met the couple who maintain the site while I was there. They were very nice. There were two portable toilets, and two of the restroom buildings were open on one side. There is one old-fashioned hand-pump water station. I was told it is potable; however, I ran the water I pumped out through my filter because it was cloudy. There was a good amount of snow on the ground, and the temperatures got down to 10 degrees during my stay. The site's road was plowed, and the sites were minimally plowed, all on packed snow and ice. So, bring a snow shovel. The river was frozen over and covered with snow, except for a few openings, so it was rather quiet. I slept in a tent, and there was enough snow and trees to muffle the next-site-over's guest's little generator for their camper. I could hear coyotes very nearby in the middle of the night. So, if you have a dog, beware. Traffic through the site was minimal. I think the vehicles I saw were staying. There were a few walkers, including my dog and me. There are a Dunkin' and a McDonald's nearby if you need something quick, as well as a grocery store. Don't buy pre-packaged firewood in town- it was not fully seasoned. Buy elsewhere or bring your own. I knew of a place about 25 minutes away that carried kiln-dried bundles. For cellular coverage, I have Verizon and had one bar of LTE about 10 percent of the time. I'm very glad this camp site was open year-round. I will definitely return.

Love this campground in the summer but I LOVE that it's open in the winter. They do a great job plowing and it's so wonderful to have access to the bathrooms/portapotty while enjoying a camping trip in a winter wonderland. Thank you to all that maintain this beautiful campground year round!

This is a great campground, the sites are flat, well cleared, good sized, and separated enough to just barely hear your neighbors, if you have any. It's also fantastic that they're one of the only campgrounds open year-round.

Hancock Campground – Site #17 (7/2–7/6) We had a great time camping at Hancock Campground over the July 4th weekend. We stayed at Site #17, which was quiet, spacious, and had just the right amount of privacy. It was also close to the river—perfect for relaxing and cooling off. Nicole, the camp host, was amazing. She was super friendly, helpful, and made sure everything around the campground was clean and running smoothly. You could tell she really cared about everyone having a good experience. During our stay, we noticed another group nearby who didn’t follow the campground rules and were being very loud with high volume speakers. Nicole stepped in and handled it respectfully and professionally. We later saw that they left a 1-star review, which felt unfair—she was just doing her job and looking out for all of us trying to enjoy a peaceful stay. We’re really glad we chose this campground and would definitely come back. Big thanks to Nicole for helping make it a great experience!

Great campsite and excellent host. Nicole was exceptionally knowledgeable and attentive to our needs while my family and I were there. When one of our friends mistakenly overpaid his stay, she was able to refund him within the hour. Thank you Nicole for being a great host. We definitely will be coming back for our next camping trip.
