About Delaware Water Gap / Pocono Mountain KOA Holiday

Campground in New Jersey.

Nestled in the heart of the Pocono Mountains region, this KOA Holiday campground offers an ideal base for exploring one of the Northeast's most scenic and recreation-rich areas. The Delaware Water Gap, just minutes away, provides a stunning natural backdrop with dramatic cliff formations rising above the Delaware River. Whether you're seeking outdoor adventure or a peaceful retreat surrounded by mountains and forests, this location delivers on both fronts.

The Pocono Mountains are renowned for their natural beauty and outdoor recreation opportunities. Hiking enthusiasts will find countless trails ranging from easy nature walks to challenging mountain climbs. The Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area offers miles of scenic pathways along the river, perfect for morning strolls or afternoon explorations. In warmer months, the Delaware River itself invites visitors for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing, with rental facilities readily available nearby. The area's elevation and tree coverage create a cooler microclimate, making it especially appealing during summer months when lower elevations feel oppressive.

Beyond the natural attractions, the region offers surprising cultural and entertainment options. Nearby towns feature local restaurants, antique shops, and craft breweries that showcase the area's character. The Stroudsmurg area provides shopping and dining conveniences for those moments when you want to venture off the campground. Families appreciate the proximity to both outdoor adventures and attractions like miniature golf and local swimming facilities.

The surrounding landscape is particularly stunning during fall, when the hardwood forests paint the mountains in brilliant reds, oranges, and golds. Spring brings wildflowers and rushing waterfalls fed by snowmelt, while winter transforms the region into a quieter, more peaceful destination perfect for those seeking solitude and contemplation.

This location works wonderfully for families wanting an active vacation, couples seeking scenic getaways, and anyone looking to disconnect from daily routines while staying connected to quality outdoor experiences. The elevation and mountain setting provide natural relief from heat and humidity that plagues other regions during summer months. Whether you plan to spend days exploring the Water Gap or prefer relaxing at the campground with views of surrounding peaks, this area accommodates diverse vacation styles.

Stayed at this KOA this past weekend. The location is beautiful. We loved the sites we had: it was tent sites with water and electric. We were pretty close to the bathrooms. Mini golf, pickleball and volley ball area, and the live music was so much fun! The only issue we really had is the gravel of the tent site made it hard to set up one of our tents that needed to be staked into the ground. Staff was so nice and our sites when we arrived , bathroom, and common areas were clean. Will definitely be coming back and recommending to friends and family.

They were more than happy to accommodate a request that we had that was important to us. We arrived at night, so did not get to see the entire campground but I was able to check out the playground with all the kids having a blast. I also had the opportunity to use the restroom and I have to say it was the cleanest restroom/ shower building I have ever been to in a campground. I would recommend this campground to anyone, we enjoyed a few days of rest and relaxation which is what we needed. Kudos to KOA Shawnee!

Beautiful campground. Welcoming and helpful staff (water was turned off for the season, and my husband hadn't used the fresh water fill before). Clean campground. A nice size playground and play area for the little ones. Bathrooms were clean and warm. Location was great as we were planning to hike bushkill falls.

Add their friendly helpful staff. 5 stars all the way!!

This was the first stop of our long roadtrip with our camper and I’m so glad! It is right outside the Deleware Water Gap NP. It is a little tricky to get to, they give directions and we of course didn’t follow them so that’s our own fault haha. However pulling into the campground there is a steep decline and we did drag our weight distribution hitch quite a bit. That’s never happened anywhere so we were surprised. The woman at the front desk was absolutely lovely to chat with and the campground itself is really nice. We had a great pull through spot and walked over to the playground to play. The equipment is older but it’s fine. We loved the guinea hen and turkey hanging around that really made the experience unique. We would absolutely come back!
