Campsite and resort amenities were great. Only issue was with management of the office when it came to reserving a golf cart. I asked what was the point of the reservation . They didn’t have an answer. Personally, I think... Campsite and resort amenities were great. I reserve the golf course months in advanced, but when I showed up on checking day, I was told one wasn’t available because some of them weren’t running or some other excuse. I asked what was the point of the reservation . They didn’t have an answer. Personally, I think they just overbooked and instead of holding carts for those who had reservations first it was first come first serve. I get this, but it would have been nice to have received a phone call prior to check-in. The manager didn’t seem overly concerned about making this right and said they would refund my money. And then everything would be fine. Their manager did allow me to call an outside vendor to reserve another cart, which took more time than it should have. They should’ve done this for me if they had great customer service, but I wasn’t able to secure a golf cart until the next day. That was only possible because the golf cart vendor was nice enough as they require 24 hours notice. They did offer me a free bag of ice or a bag of firewood, but I don’t think that concession was worth the inconvenience and frustration. Perhaps a small voucher for another future stay would’ve made it right but they didn’t seem to care.

But boy did we love this place, we’re already discussing booking a longer trip in a larger cabin for next summer (we got the smallest cabin, one room no bathroom). It was clean & cozy, the bathrooms were clean and spacious, as were the showers. You can’t beat the beach at the lake with free chairs and a pool perfect for any age child to stand in being that the low end was only 1.5 ft deep. Staff was extremely friendly as well. My only complaint was the mosquitos but that’s out of everyone’s control. Only advice I can give about this place is to pack literally every kind of bug repellent you possibly can! Either way, 10/10.

False advertisement of beach and amenities. No activities for children and no one working the area for paddle boats, canoes, beach umbrellas. Bathrooms were moldy and dirty. Store closed early every day (by 4pm). I raised my concerns with management and they did nothing but give me excuses for why things happened. I’m sorry but if you are paying $140 per night for a place with “retreat” in the title then that is what you should get in return. We will never return or trust another Sun community. So very disappointed

We stayed in a tent here for 2 nights. A TREE BRANCH FELL THROUGH OUR TENT ON THE SECOND NIGHT AND WAS 6 INCHES AWAY FROM KILLING OR SERIOUSLY INJURING MY SON! Thankfully no one was hurt. The limb was obviously dead and covered in moss. The guards at the gate are total unhelpful and unknowledgeable about anything. The guards at the gate are total unhelpful and unknowledgeable about anything. Also on the second night there was some kind of domestic dispute that woke us up. The teenagers are all over the streets after dark posing a hazard when driving. The teenagers also come in the bathroom when you're showering and scream random stuff. Mosquitos are also bad here. Also, the sites are pretty small and our sight was covered in grass clippings as they did not bag it. For the amount of money that they charge it should be a lot better. At the very least they should trim their dead limbs!

Adding to this as the response was maybe wrong resort. No, I am aware of what resort I was at. Just another way of you of ignoring the horrible conditions. Not the best response. Wow! This place is a disgusting and disgraceful. Sewer all over the ground. Garbage everywhere. Loud party’s. No security. I’m surprised the health department hasn’t shut this place down. Save your money and go elsewhere... Adding to this as the response was maybe wrong resort. No, I am aware of what resort I was at. Just another way of you of ignoring the horrible conditions. I’m surprised the health department hasn’t shut this place down. Save your money and go elsewhere. Disgusting bathhouses. Went to discuss these issues with the interim manager who was a young girl, and she was crying and complaining about being overworked and stressed out. Obviously not able to handle the job. Sun you should be ashamed of yourself!
