Be prepared! This is a steep non-maintained trail. Its not long but if youre out of shape or not acclimated to the elevation, you will be winded easily. That said, it drops you right down to the Rio Grande with very scenic views and great trout fishing. I came here to fly fish and it was worth it. There's big pools of slow moving water and big boulders creating rapids to fish in. You can expect to find Rainbow, Cutbow, and Brown trout here. The canyon is deep so the sun is only on you for a few hours but when it crests the opposite canyon side, its time to start thinking about calling it a day. Dark falls QUICK and the trail isnt easily identifiable if you venture off. There's no bathrooms and no real place to camp there. You can venture off but beware of big slippery boulders and no cell service. Parking is available at the top side.

Next time I will definitely not traverse all of the way down further the trail is overgrown and you will be in the bush with the spiders, flies & mosquitos. Though there was also a variety of plants to see, that was nice.

It's a short steep hike but worth it for the great views. Best done in the morning so the opposite cliffs are lit up by the sun while hiking in the shade.
