Nice place to Boondock on the way to Gila Cliff Dwellings or the many hot springs in the area. Two pit toilets but no water or trash service. Scattered rock fire pits amongst the trees. The road crosses the river going into private / gates closed area so don’t bother driving through it because there’s no camping beyond the river.

I stayed here back in October 2023. I arrived to the cliff dwelling area a little late the first day and set up camp here. It was awesome. I found a nice spot at the end, away from most people and their barking dogs . . That was the only minor drawback, but at least they were away from me.

So close to the river, it was not the cleanest part of it but still fresh water and wide camping spaces. Theres a store campbells post very close to it has homemade ice cream that is a must. You will have a great time over there.

Located near the Gila cliff dwellings, this is a great spot to get away, enjoy the local wildlife, wild camp, and wade in the crystal clear waters of the Gila river. To our surprise, the campgrounds were relatively empty and we found the perfect camp spot right on the river. Waters are relatively calm and quiet enough in many spots, making it safe for kids or just lounging around

Had a great time with the family and pets. Bummer that they bathrooms arent open! I'm sure people could effectively social distance at the bathrooms!!!!
