Most parks have check-in after 1:00 PM and check-out by 11:00 AM. Call ahead if you'll arrive late.

Quiet, peaceful, beautiful scenery never saw the horses, but enjoyed our state nonetheless. This was in February.

This is such a gem of a place, I hate to review it and risk overcrowding. First, the “not so great” to thin out the crowd: Finding a level site is just about impossible. I think a couple might exist but I’m uncertain because the slope many of the camps are on will take loads and loads of gravel to level. Trees are near the road so if you don’t like branches dragging down your coach, scout a path... This is such a gem of a place, I hate to review it and risk overcrowding. First, the “not so great” to thin out the crowd: Finding a level site is just about impossible. I think a couple might exist but I’m uncertain because the slope many of the camps are on will take loads and loads of gravel to level. Trees are near the road so if you don’t like branches dragging down your coach, scout a path with your toad first. What “seemed” wide enough wasn’t and I got the pleasure of having my awning motor cover removed by a branch. There’s no full hook-ups. 30 amp service is available at a few campsites but no water and sewer hookups. You can fill/empty your tanks on site, just not connected in camp. If you’re still reading this, here’s the good: There are CLEAN showers and restrooms throughout the location. There are trash dumpsters conveniently placed throughout as well. The campsites are CLEAN. I don’t mean “lacking trash” but clean as in no pull tabs, cigarette butts, bottle caps, nails, glass shards, etc. If you like that sort of thing, please leave your site like that for the others who appreciate clean sites. There are a variety of sizes for the sites and a few can accommodate even the largest of trains. There are sites facing the lake, sites facing the canyons and there are sites facing sites. Pick your view, there’s one for everyone (if you don’t mind unleveled or mega-cribbing your rig) The canyon trail is the bomb. Partially primitive, partially groomed, fully breathtaking. You don’t need to be a mountain goat to traverse the trail but it does have some steep spots, loose rock, soft underfoot, etc. Wear comfortable shoes and enjoy descending into the canyon and strolling along the babbling creek. NOTE: The trail to the dam is not a loop. It’s worth hiking but the trail to get to the dam is the same one to leave the dam. The dam walkways are locked off so you can’t cross over the dam but all in all, it’s a great trek! Lastly, the Rangers here are fantastic. Friendly folk who clearly have pride in their park, pride in their job and pride in helping folks around. At $14 a night for electric hookups, this place is a gem…. After reading a scathing review complaining about the park hours, I had to return and add an address comment: Yes, the entry gate closes promptly at 9:00 p.m. to preserve quiet hours and ensure the serenity of the park. It’s clearly posted and the absence of traffic at night adds even more to its charm. I am grateful the Rangers enforce this rule and tickled to read they write citations to those who think they’re above the rules. Good job folks!

This exceeded our expectations! Inside the campground was beautiful. Huge sites with fire pits. Bathrooms were clean. We took the hike around the canyon to the dam with our dogs & was beautiful! The campground was about 10% occupied which was weird. We have been traveling now for 5 months so we were questioning to stay. Loved the park & would highly recommend it. Best deal yet with showers!

Paid $20 for a night. Showers were closed - no notice online or at the entry board. Most sites were not level and had no shade. Constant blasting cold winds, and the lake water was painfully cold too. Host wasn't anywhere to be seen, and nobody picked up the phone at 9:30am. If you call to make sure showers are available, then it's okay for a night over.

We left on the last day when were able to go to the lake other wise it was so crowded we could not get near it untill that last day,and when we did unfortunately all the party goers had left beer cans , bottles and a fire Un snuffed and even left what looked like spoiled meat with the bone in to rot behind.I felt sorry for the poor Park rangers that had to clean up after so many lazy people before us partying away not using common sense pack in take out leave things cleaner than when you got There! They have provided garbage bins. It was a beautiful lake I hope It is there for years to come. We had a lovely stay and I will bring my grandkids there someday soon. Thank you to the Park rangers they were kind to us and helped us find our spot as it was raining a little when we arrived.we felt safe as you also did regular patrolling the area.

Awesome, small, quiet and clean campground. Close to Grants or Thoreau. About 15 spots and a clean restroom. No trash. Pack it in pack it out. Great Zuni mountain scenery. Bluewater Lake close by, as well as a ton of trails and service roads throughout the area.

We loved the spot it was super small and trees were fantastic, we did not stay three other spots had dogs OFF Leash so we only had lunch and left. We were saddend to see so much of the mountain had burned. We will have to go back off season and try to stay again labor day was not a good idea there are on 15 lots or so and close together but loved the layout.

This place would be amazing go stay at. The only downside is how long it takes to get out there and the rough roads.
