Deerhead was my first experience camping west of the Mississippi in April 2024. To say the least, it was magical considering the tall trees, views, fresh air, cool temps. Also, the host was amazing and very helpful. For example, I had nothing to leave while away to secure the sight and he volunteered to put out an orange traffic to show the sight was occupied. He was super friendly and helpful. Th... Deerhead was my first experience camping west of the Mississippi in April 2024. For example, I had nothing to leave while away to secure the sight and he volunteered to put out an orange traffic to show the sight was occupied. He was super friendly and helpful. The bathroom I used was very clean and the park was well kept. Finally, both the host and Deerhead are superb. Thank you Sir.

We drove from South Texas to New Mexico for our kids to experience snowfall.. Right when we arrive, we were blessed and snow started to fall.. it was awesome. Definitely will be returning next year.

Found a spot here on our road trip last minute on a Saturday. Plenty of spots. First come first served. Self-pay station ($25). Clean restrooms. Very nice fire rings. Tables. Flat, clean tent sites. Park Manager is very sweet. Would come back! Cloudcroft sits at the highest elevation in New Mexico! Other reviews comment on how close the spots are - I didn't find them too close at all. A beautiful place to stop and camp for the night! Cool up at this elevation. No water source and only outhouses. But a good campground with woods and shade. I liked the wheelchair accessible sites available. If you camp here take water.

We used to really enjoy this beautiful campground, but this past weekend, it was not as enjoyable as in the past. There were signs clearly posted that due to fire restrictions, no charcoal grilling or bon fires were allowed, however some people did not adhere to the restrictions. People were also loud way into midnight. It appears the grounds are not being monitored as it should be. It's a shame...
