About 16 Springs Canyon RV Park

Campground in New Mexico.

Nestled in the scenic Sacramento Mountains of southern New Mexico, 16 Springs Canyon RV Park offers a peaceful escape into one of the region's most picturesque mountain communities. Located at 9,000 feet elevation in Cloudcroft, this RV park provides the perfect base for experiencing the dramatic landscape and outdoor recreation opportunities that make this area special.

Cloudcroft itself is a charming mountain village that feels like stepping back in time. The town sits among towering ponderosa pines and offers a refreshing climate, especially appealing during the hot New Mexico summers when lower elevations become sweltering. The cool mountain air and natural surroundings create an ideal setting for relaxation and rejuvenation. The community has maintained much of its character from its early days as a railroad resort town, adding to the authentic experience of staying in this mountain haven.

The surrounding Sacramento Mountains offer exceptional outdoor recreation for RV travelers of all interests. Hiking trails wind through dense forests, offering opportunities to spot local wildlife and enjoy mountain vistas. The nearby Lincoln National Forest provides numerous recreational activities including fishing in mountain streams, picnicking in scenic areas, and exploring backcountry roads. For those interested in history, the region boasts several fascinating sites, including the village of Lincoln, a preserved ghost town that tells the story of New Mexico's frontier past.

The elevation makes this location particularly attractive for travelers seeking respite from summer heat, though the mild weather extends through much of the year. Nearby attractions within reasonable driving distance include White Sands National Park and the charming arts community of Ruidoso, both offering unique experiences. Whether you're seeking mountain solitude, outdoor adventures, or cultural exploration, the Cloudcroft area delivers on multiple fronts.

This location appeals to travelers who appreciate mountain scenery, outdoor recreation, and small-town charm. Families, retirees, and adventure seekers all find value in the natural beauty and relaxed pace of the area. The elevation and mountain setting create a completely different experience from lower desert RV parks, making it an excellent choice for those looking to escape the beaten path and enjoy authentic New Mexico mountain hospitality.

We woke up to Elk bugling and had cows walking through occasionally. The forest trails are a short distance away from camp and the town is only a 15-minute drive. I took my son and dad on a trip to ride dirt bikes through the mountains, and it was awesome! We rode just under 200 miles in the back country during our time there. I would highly recommend staying here on your next trip to Lincoln National Forest. You will not be disappointed.

Beautiful spot off the beaten path. Very quiet with roaming Elk and a full view of the night stars. Full hookups for RV. It was a great experience and we look forward to coming back!

The RV space was absolutely beautiful. The hosts were great and it was so peaceful because of the 24/7 quiet rule. The only criticism we had was that the common dump site was uphill and we couldn’t dump there. Some sites don’t have sewer hook up. But that was very minor and we went to a dump site elsewhere and took care of it.

Great people camp here, and I highly recommend. We were very sad to leave but look forward to our idyllic two weeks next year. You can’t go wrong booking your stay at 16 Springs. Last year’s review: July 16 Springs is a lovely campground hideaway that offers peace and beauty at every turn. Words cannot describe this paradise on earth gem. This was our second visit, and we’re already booked for next summer. Earnest was a gracious host always looking out for the campers and offering kind words and help when needed. Stacey, the owner, is very hands on and accommodating. Thanks for making our vacation awesome!

It is quiet, serene, and they enforce the 24/7 quiet hours which keeps it peaceful. Our truck broke down in the spot while we were trying to leave, and their only concern was our safety, allowing us to stay another night while we worked out a way to get the truck and trailer out. Stacy and Ernest, y'all are amazing, and we will come back as often as we can.
