About Cool Pines RV Park

Seasonal RV Park

Nestled in the scenic Sacramento Mountains of southern New Mexico, Cool Pines RV Park offers a refreshing escape from the desert heat at an elevation of over 8,500 feet. Located in the charming village of Mayhill along US Highway 82, this park serves as an ideal base for exploring one of New Mexico's most beautiful regions.

The area surrounding Cool Pines RV Park is characterized by towering ponderosa pines, crisp mountain air, and temperatures that remain comfortable even during New Mexico's hottest months. The elevation provides natural relief from the intense heat found in lower desert areas, making it an excellent destination for RVers seeking a cooler climate. The mountain setting creates a peaceful atmosphere perfect for those looking to slow down and reconnect with nature while still maintaining the conveniences of RV living.

Mayhill's location makes it exceptionally convenient for accessing some of the region's premier attractions. The Lincoln National Forest surrounds the area, offering endless opportunities for hiking, wildlife viewing, and scenic drives through pristine woodlands. Just a short drive away, visitors can reach Cloudcroft, a popular mountain town with shops, restaurants, and cultural attractions. The historic town of Lincoln, associated with the famous Lincoln County War and Billy the Kid legend, provides fascinating Old West history and charm that appeals to travelers interested in New Mexico's colorful past.

For those seeking outdoor recreation, the park's mountainous setting provides excellent conditions for nature photography, bird watching, and peaceful walks among the pines. The cooler temperatures and higher elevation make it particularly appealing during summer months when lower elevations become uncomfortably hot. The highway location ensures that supplies and services are accessible, while the mountain setting maintains that sense of natural retreat.

Whether you're looking for a summer cooling break, a base for exploring Lincoln County's historic sites, or simply a peaceful mountain getaway with fellow RV enthusiasts, Cool Pines RV Park offers the perfect combination of accessibility and natural beauty that makes New Mexico's mountains so special.

The best part, Every Saturday they treat guests to homemade posole and fresh cinnamon rolls in the morning—it’s such a thoughtful touch and brings everyone together. Definitely one of the friendliest and most inviting RV parks we’ve ever visited. They are having chili cook off this weekend, we can’t wait to see what it’s all about!

This is our second year staying at cool Pines and we’ve enjoyed the cool weather, friendly people, campfires, and the owner tends to our every need. Great dog parks for the animal lovers. Thanks Jessie & James! We will be back!

My wife and I never spent any nights there. I really needed to dump our holding tanks and I ask the owner if he would allow me to dump. The owner was kind enough to allow me to dump and it was greatly appreciated. We did drive through the park and it’s very nice level sites and they are improving/adding new spaces with water, electric and sewer if I had not had a reservation. We easily could spend...
