About Sun West RV Park

Campground in New Mexico.

Nestled in the high desert landscape of southeastern New Mexico, Sun West RV Park offers travelers a convenient base for exploring one of the region's most captivating destinations. Located in Carlsbad, this RV park provides easy access to the natural wonders and attractions that make this area a compelling stop for road trippers and outdoor enthusiasts alike.

Carlsbad is perhaps best known as the gateway to Carlsbad Caverns National Park, one of the most extraordinary cave systems in the United States. The massive underground chambers filled with stalactites, stalagmites, and other formations create an otherworldly experience that draws visitors from around the globe. Whether you're planning to descend into the caverns or simply explore the visitor center and surrounding park trails, staying at Sun West RV Park puts you within reasonable driving distance of this geological marvel.

Beyond the famous caverns, the Carlsbad area offers visitors a surprising variety of outdoor activities and natural attractions. The Pecos River winds through the region, creating scenic spots for photography and nature appreciation. The surrounding Chihuahuan Desert landscape provides unique opportunities for those interested in desert ecology, geology, and photography. Wildlife enthusiasts often spot roadrunners, javelinas, and various bird species throughout the area. The region experiences dramatically beautiful sunsets over the desert, creating memorable evenings for campers.

The town of Carlsbad itself has a genuine character, with local restaurants serving up regional New Mexican cuisine that shouldn't be missed. The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens offers another excellent nearby attraction for visitors interested in seeing animals and plants native to the desert Southwest. The area's lower elevation compared to other New Mexico destinations means milder winter temperatures, making it an attractive option for those looking to escape harsher climates during the colder months.

Families, retirees, and adventure seekers all find value in the Carlsbad area. History buffs appreciate the region's ties to frontier heritage, while nature lovers gravitate toward the unique desert environment and geological formations. The pace is relaxed, the skies are remarkably clear for stargazing, and the overall experience offers authentic New Mexico hospitality without the crowds found in more tourist-heavy destinations.

This is are 2nd time staying here while working in this area. Rv lots are big with plenty of parking space. They have wifi, cable, laundromat, ice machines, drink machines & you can get your mail & packages delivered here. Ms. Debbie in office is super nice and other employees that I've met are very nice as well. Thanks for everything !! We will stay here when in Carlsbad area again.

Was a great park until the owner stopped listening to the park manager and decided to put the garbage bins in the middle of the park. Now all the traffic comes down the lanes to drop off their trash instead of on the side of the road at the entrances to the lanes. Going to be great in the summer months. Should smell amazing! Not to mention all the added traffic coming down the lanes.

I was there two years ago and was treated very poorly. An elderly woman wearing heavy makeup spoke to me with excessive authority, and the maintenance man disrespected my wife.

It's pretty good but they don't do refunds. And If you work in oilfield it's not a good location cause traffic is horrible in carlsbad and Walmart is packed.

FINALLY❕ Great place. Office was pleasant to communicate with. I'd leave a longer review. But go ahead and waste time trying to call other places nearby.
