Made this hike a day after a rainy foiled attempt to get up Wright peak in the pouring rain. Did it with my dog Nixie on August 26, 2010, she passed away a couple of years ago and I still think of those two days often when I think of her. She was worn out and fed up with me on that rainy day on Wright and did not want to go at first on the hike to Cooper Kiln Pond and lean to. Reluctance aside she... Reluctance aside she was happy after we got started, she could often smell chipmunks I think (she was a Schnauzer after all). Beautiful, fairly easy hike and the pond and shelter were as well---was surprised we had not met anyone on the trail that day.
