About Indian Head Campground

Campground in New York.

Indian Head Campground sits in the heart of Bloomsburg, New York, offering RV travelers a welcoming base for exploring this charming Columbia County region. Located at 340 Reading Street, this public campground provides convenient access to both the natural beauty of the surrounding area and the cultural attractions that make this part of upstate New York special.

Bloomsburg itself is a vibrant small town with a rich history and genuine small-town character. The downtown area features unique shops, local restaurants, and galleries that reflect the community's commitment to arts and culture. The town is perhaps best known as the home of Bloomsburg University, which brings energy and educational events throughout the year. Whether you're interested in catching a theatrical production at one of the local venues, exploring antique shops, or simply strolling through tree-lined streets, Bloomsburg offers plenty of reasons to venture beyond your campsite.

The natural setting around the campground is one of its greatest assets. The Susquehanna River, one of the longest rivers on the East Coast, flows nearby and provides opportunities for fishing, kayaking, and scenic walks along its banks. The rolling hills and farmland of Columbia County create beautiful landscapes, particularly stunning during fall foliage season when the entire region transforms into a canvas of reds, oranges, and golds. This makes autumn an especially popular time for RV visitors to the area.

For outdoor enthusiasts, the region offers excellent hiking and biking opportunities. The landscapes provide peaceful settings for those seeking respite from busier tourist destinations. The area is also known for its agricultural heritage, and visitors often enjoy visiting local orchards and farm stands, particularly during harvest seasons.

The campground itself has earned a solid 4.2-star rating from over 326 reviews, indicating that guests consistently find it a pleasant and reliable destination. Whether you're traveling through the Northeast on a longer RV journey or looking for a peaceful weekend retreat, Indian Head Campground offers a comfortable home base for experiencing authentic upstate New York hospitality and scenery.

Stayed here a couple of days at the conclusion of a bicycle tour. Improvements have been made since I was last there in 2017 thanks to new owners. It’s handy to have a pavilion with tables and a water tap when you don’t have an RV/trailer. You can snake through the back streets to get to the grocery stores on the east end of town. Even though things were ramping up for the fair, people were still well behaved. Really nice owners clearly care about the place.

Could be a great place. Looks like they are trying to make improvements, the 10+ pull-though sites were fine with new concrete patios. But the rest is essentially a junk yard. Very old full-time residents that have junk everywhere and most site are a muddy mess. Electric and sewer hookup are at the back so most don’t reach. Low hanging trees coming and going. Great place to camp with lots of activities. There is a big playground for the children. The children all interact and are playing until the sun goes down! The owners are very friendly! This has been our first year camping and had visited twice. We will definitely be going back! Another perk is it is close to Knoebels!

Went there for a night, but wishing we did more. My girlfriend and I went here to camp for a night fir the Bloomsburg fair, very nice staff and a very clean campground. It was nice and peaceful and could not complain about the pricing for staying. We agree we will come back to this campground in the future with hopefully more nights planned to stay.
