Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Brought my wife here to paddle in my two seat folding kayak. We stayed up the road at the Snowy Mountain Inn and also paddled on Indian Lake.

Very still the day we went. May opportunities to stop, drift, and explore hidden nooks of smaller ponds that the beavers make.

Where Route 30 crosses the Jessup River, there is a small informal parking lot where one may launch canoes and kayaks. There is space for about 8 cars, with no toilets, picnic tables or other services. From here, you can paddle northeast (upstream) towards Indian Lake. The current may be challenging or negligible, depending on the time of year and recent rainfall. There will be several low beaver dams to paddle through or portage over. The river is narrow, about 20-30 feet. Alternately, you can paddle downstream from the launch point. In either case, turn around whenever you wish and return to your car.
