About Lehigh Gorge Campground

Campground in New York.

Lehigh Gorge Campground offers RV travelers a gateway to one of Pennsylvania's most dramatic natural landscapes. Located in White Haven, this public campground sits near the stunning Lehigh Gorge, where towering cliffs frame a pristine river valley that has captivated visitors for generations. The surrounding area blends outdoor adventure with charming small-town character, making it an ideal destination for families, nature enthusiasts, and anyone seeking to escape into a more peaceful setting.

The Lehigh Gorge itself is the primary draw for visitors to this region. The gorge stretches for miles, carved by the Lehigh River over thousands of years, creating some of the most visually striking scenery in the Northeast. The sheer rock walls rise dramatically from the river below, and the entire landscape offers endless opportunities for exploration and photography. The area transforms beautifully with the seasons, from vibrant spring wildflowers to summer's lush green canopy to autumn's spectacular foliage display that draws leaf-peepers from across the region.

Recreation options in the area are plentiful. The Lehigh Gorge Trail, one of the most popular hiking paths in the state, runs through the gorge and offers breathtaking views at nearly every turn. Visitors can enjoy moderate to challenging hikes suitable for various fitness levels, with numerous access points and scenic overlooks. For water enthusiasts, the Lehigh River provides opportunities for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. The river is known for its diverse fish populations, making it popular with anglers throughout the year.

Beyond outdoor pursuits, the region has a rich history worth exploring. The area was historically significant in Pennsylvania's industrial development, and visitors can learn about this heritage through local attractions and historical sites. Small towns nearby offer local dining, antique shops, and other conveniences for travelers looking to supplement their camping experience.

The White Haven location serves as a convenient base for exploring both the gorge and the broader Pocono Mountains region. Whether you're planning an active adventure or simply want to relax while surrounded by natural beauty, this area delivers on both fronts. The combination of dramatic scenery, accessible recreation, and peaceful camping creates an experience that appeals to RV travelers of all types.

Beautiful and well kept place. Pretty pond and awesome new and huge pool. I deducted two stars for the horrible road and train noise. The sites are nestled around trees and spacious enough. Our site, #6, was about 100feet from a busy road so we easily heard the traffic, including loud semi trucks all morning and throughout the day. The pool was nice and had a cute kiddie section. Office staff were friendly and helpful and the Store nicely stocked. Bathrooms were clean with good water pressure for the showers. Camping: early September, 16’ camper, 2 adults, no pets

This campground receives our 5 stars for a great customer experience and a perfect location to plan our biking trip.
