Once there we located our bunks, dumped the bags, and made our way to the dining area. Conversations randomly started around some delicious mac and cheese, ribs, salad (coodos to chef and people responsible for my nephew's dietary restrictions - he was pleased!) Kate, Dave, Mike and others had a way of sharing their personal experiences while casually integrating the issue about 'safety first' when hiking the high peaks. It was savvy, and wonderful! You can't underestimate the years of outdoor experience these people have. Any concerns we had about our hike the following morning were put to rest. As the expression goes ... one mouth, two ears to listen twice as much as we speak 😊 I emphasize because once home, stories of stranded & ill-equipped hikers emerged from around the north-east states: weather permitting it could have been us. Thanks to the staff at the Loj, we will be back! - Frank & family

Stayed at the tent campsites for a night. The area is absolutely beautiful however the campsites are practically on top of each other and you can see everyone’s campsite around you. But besides that, having a washhouse, wifi at the loj and info center, and trailhead access within a couple hundred feet of camp is really convenient.

Parking here to hike Marcy was a breeze and the lady at the booth was professional. $18 isn’t bad for a full day considering some of the horrendous tourist traps in the area such as the high falls gorge ($20 for 15 mins of walking) . Absolutely will come back to hike you earned my business

Service in the Loj is excellent. However the service during the reservation process was disorganized. There were mistakes to correct both with our room reservations and dining reservations, even after we confirmed with them twice. However, they were agreeable about correcting the errors, repeatedly. The host was very friendly and helpful and answered our friends many questions about the logistics of operating a lodge facility, kitchen, and deck screw questions.
