It overlooks a large picnic area with bathrooms within sight and walking distance. It is right off of the parking lot, too. When you enter Wildwood, it is off to the left, in the corner right past the small concession/bathroom area, right past the picnic ground, fenced in. Surrounded by woods in the back and right side, it is well kept, and clear of branches and leaves. Last time we were there, they were raking leaves and removing branches after a windy night. I'm sure this place is super busy during summertime and early fall, but we have been coming since mid October, and there has been very little foot traffic. Sometimes there will be a few scattered vehicles from people enjoying the trails or waterfront, a few random families at picnic tables, someone walking a dog, etc. Either we will be the only ones at the playground or a family or two will filter in and out while we're there, so it's been a nice place to go when the weather permits, but we don't want the overwhelming chaos of the local parks. The playground is well maintained and appears up to date, with plenty of options for kids of all ages, including the younger ones. My son likes to alternate between riding his bike and playing on the playsets, which seem safer but as entertaining as the bigger local parks. There is some sandy parts and soft ground material which was a nice surprise as my son is a wild child. The playground allows for you to keep eyes on multiple kiddos but I never like when there isn't a full enclosure, as the parking lot is only a few steps off despite the fence. Anyways, this park is equipped with 2 playsets (5 & under, 5 & older), 2 swingsets, a see saw, a single person spinning thing (??), a double climbing wall, walking/bike riding area, with sand and softland material near equipment. My 3.5 year old LOVES this park. It overlooks the picnic area, which is nice if you have older kids and come to hang out or have a BBQ since you can see them close by. Definitely recommend coming here, but we have only been here maybe 4 times in the off-season, and there hasn't been a crowd or anything to compare it to.

Some of these boulders are igneous rocks (rocks that have cooled from magma or lava) with amazing large crystals (these boulders are called pegmatites). Most of the boulders are metamorphic rocks, in particular, granitic gneiss, which you can recognize by their light (orange/pink/white) and dark (black) colored stripes that are often warped. These rocks were made from granite that was buried deep in the Earth's crust and subjected to high heat and pressure. The boulders are similar to the Stony Creek Granite on the south shore of Connecticut, 20 miles north of this park. If you look closely at the pegmatite and granitic gneiss boulders, you will see a lot of orange-pink. This is the potassium feldspar mineral, which is the same mineral that gives the granite base of the Statue of Liberty its orange color. Minerals I found include: potassium feldspar, quartz, muscovite mica, biotite mica, pyrite etc. The micas are very cool: they have reflective mirror like surfaces and form crystal "books" with each page like a reflective plate. Muscovite has a silvery reflection that can also look green at some angles. Biotite is black and reflective.

Fun and inexpensive camping site. Bathroom is pretty dirty by the end of the day but gets cleaned every morning so not too bad. We loved it overall.

I like the place! Quiet and not crowded without music (hope , everyone is coming here to relax with nature sounds). There is a play ground, restrooms near the barbecue area. The picnic area is well maintained with the garbage can, barbecue, tables. A lot. Beach area has bathrooms with the sink to wash the shoes. The beach is not big, but lovely place.

I glossed over the fact that these campsites do not have a fire pit and that you need to either bring one or rent one. $12 a night, $20 cash only deposit so we had to go across the street view o Niks deli to get cash. Very happy with the campsite that we picked because it was towards the end of a loop so we only really had the neighbor to the back of us which we were able to kind of block off with our tent/gazebo pop-up. There’s not much blockage from trees in any of the other areas so everybody is basically just next to each other which isn’t an ideal but just choose your site wisely! The bathrooms were very well maintained and very stocked with toilet paper, very clean. The walk to the beach is a little bit of a hike if you’re going with a bunch of stuff because you literally can only walk up and down and it’s steep going back up. Just good to know before hand. The water is kind of gross obviously it’s Long Island but the scenery was breathtaking and the sunset was amazing I don’t know that I would go again just because of how on top of each other all of the campsites are with no real blockage from each other but nonetheless it was a great trip and a very beautiful area
