Sites are level & graveled for the RV/trailer pad & there are a few very solid horse high-tie stantion posts at each site. There are also 2 full bathrooms with completely seperate & private shower rooms. The park is also in a little-known beautiful national forest. The only downside is that none of the campgrounds/campsites at this national foresr have full hooks with sewer &/or fresh water. No access to a your own sewer is not a big deal for most horse folks, but no access to water for your horses can be. There is a fresh water spigot at both sides of the campground, but you can't hook a hose to it, so plan to human-hoof pales of water to your horses one bucket at a time... I am a horseman, but this first visit to this national forest was not with horses. My husband & I were just passing through the area & needed a place to camp overnight & dump our tank & get fresh water. It is because of this as to why I gave this campground a 4 vice a 5 - because without the really nice camp host we would have been driving another 2 hours in the dark to find access to such. What got my goat is that I called & spoke to a ranger only 2 days before our arrival to ensure they had a camp with both access to a dump site & fresh water, as we came in with a full black water tank and barely any freshwater after having boondocked elsewhere for 6 days. She stated the Baden Lake & Canebrake developed campgrounds both had a place to dump & rinse/clean our camper's tank, as well as access to fresh water to fill our tank. When we arrived at Baden Lake campground another mile or 2 up a dirt road, we found that all the fresh water had been turned off for the winter at the campground with a sign stating so. The sign also stated we could therefore just dump, but not rinse, our black and gray water tanks, but when we tried to just dump our tank, it spit back up at us like that valve had been closed off, too. We then proceeded on to the Canebrake horse camp & found that though it had an open dump tube they also had their fresh water access secured for the winter season. As stated earlier, there was a spigot you could not attach a hose to for fresh water for horses (that was open) away from the dump area, but a hose purposely could not be attached to it to fill a camper's fresh water tank. If it wasn't for the very nice camp host we would have came & left with an empty freshwater tank (but still would have had to pay the full camping fee if we stayed the night). When we asked the host if there was anywhere around not too far we could fill our freshwater tank, he stated he had freshwater access at his host site & helped us fill the tank. I was just seriously annoyed that I was told one thing by a ranger only 2 days before - & was given an answer that based my decision on going out of my way to find this campground to only get there @ sunset & not have what I needed came for there or anywhere else for miles around.

Help! Do they ever clean the bathroom? Everything just looks old and crusty. But the one shower near the front was almost hot! Really nice spread out sites, we had no horses, but most everyone else did. Full on the weekend peaceful and empty during the week. Horse people all clean up after their steeds, it's a nice peaceful woodsy place. Oh and lots of trails!!

Fairly cool campground, I don't have any horses. Surcharge for electric even if you don't use it. Neat to see some horses if there are other campers there with horses. Lots of deer that eat horses leftover grains.
