We have stayed here multiple times over the years and it is the best camp ground close to the NOC. We loved our time here for a peaceful retreat. Try to get a camp right beside the creek and the sound of running water puts you right to sleep at night. They keep the showers and common areas very clean and always pleasant. They even have firewood for sale. The NOC convenient store is just a mile awa... We have stayed here multiple times over the years and it is the best camp ground close to the NOC. Stayed here for 30 years and its lovely and so are the owners. The reviews of folks whining about having to be quite are true. You cannot come here and be a rude camper and stay up all night. Ann and John and their regular guests don't want to hear you...that's all....so come and enjoy their beautiful property and you'll fall in love with it too.

Our Boy Scout troop has camped at Lost Mine for many, many years, often renting the entire campground. It's nothing special with very few amenities, but it's location is good. We have been welcomed back year after year. When wildfires nearly burned the campground down last fall, I personally called to check on Ann and her family and to ask if there was anything our Troop could do to lend a hand. We have tolerated the rudeness and intrusions on our peaceful enjoyment by the management primarily because it's only a mile from the Nantahala Outdoor Center and Appalachian Trail access - you can't beat the proximity. We again made our reservation this earlier this summer only to receive a phone call this week from the owner cancelling our reservation (three weeks before our trip) saying she is no longer renting to Boy Scouts, citing President Trump's comments to the Scouts at the recent National Jamboree. No reasonable person can possibly link comments made by the President of the United States to our local group of 11-14 year olds, but that's just the problem -- this owner is not reasonable. We have found another suitable campground whose management is excited to have us, and I have to say I am looking forward to not having to deal with Ann anymore, ever again. I sincerely hope she will be able to absorb the $2000 loss of revenue we have provided her for the past decade.

We stay at Lost Mine several times per Summer paddling season, and the Owner lady treats us like family. We always get the same spot, which is quiet and secluded, right next to a little stream that lulls us to sleep. Yes, there are rules and they are enforced; which is exactly why we like staying there. I am NOT interested in listening to drunk partiers all night. The convenience to NOC down the road is awesome; makes it easier to go down there to eat than cook off a camp stove. There are other campgrounds nearby, but this one is our favorite for convenience and QUIET at night. Disregard the rudeness quotes below; they are nonsense. The Owner lady is completely cool if you're cool to her.

I've been camping at Lost Mine Campground since the 80's. Great little campground close to NOC and Murphy. Anne the owner runs a tight ship, but it's for the peace and comfort of all. Lots of great memories staying at Lost Mine over the decades.
