We called last minute on a holiday weekend so we camped in the overflow campground the first night. They gave us detailed directions so we could find it after dark. Even tho it didn't have the views it was amazing because it was so quiet and remote. The next day they had us in a tent only sight tucked away from the driveway with incredible views of the mountains, stars and fog. We loved it so much we asked for another night. That campsight wasn't available when I asked the next morning so they placed us as close as they could. Before we moved all our stuff, the manager on duty drove down to tell us that the reservation was cancelled at the tent sight and we could stay there. Just incredible hospitality in such a remote place. They delivered firewood and truly went above and beyond to make us feel welcome even with our two boistrous hounds (don't bring your loud or misbehaving animals to the viewing deck at sunset, go to a nearby overlook. All the campers are so friendly and neighborly they want to talk to you and pet your animals and mine aren't that good in those scenarios!) DJ, Jessica, and the older gentleman with the gray beard and hair (thank you for the sticker!) were just a pleasure as well as the camping neighbors. Pictures do not do this place any justice, you have to experience it yourself. Extremely close proximity to the dog friendly trails you can do in the area as well. It's a special place and I will absolutely be back!

Mile High Campground is truly something special! Even though we didn’t get one of the view sites this trip, it didn’t take away from how incredible this place is. This is a beautiful spot but the bathrooms are pretty gross. They are old and just not clean. We boiled water on the fire to wash rather than use the bathrooms and we drove off site when possible to use the bathrooms. Also, when animals got into trash cans around the property, the garbage sat on the ground for quite sometime in or near campsites. It’s really a shame. I’d rather pay a little more... I’d rather pay a little more to camp and see some upgrades to the ancient bathrooms and better cleaning practices.

Stunning views from most of the campsites. The cabin I rented in case of rain was uninhabitable, except for the little critters that were scratching around at night.😱. I would definitely come back to this campground, but I would bring my tent .
