About YMCA Camp Seafarer

Campground in North Carolina.

Nestled along the scenic waters of North Carolina's Crystal Coast, YMCA Camp Seafarer offers a unique camping experience that combines waterfront beauty with community-focused recreation. Located in Arapahoe, this public campground provides RV travelers with easy access to one of the state's most treasured coastal regions, where salt marshes meet sandy shores and maritime history runs deep.

The Arapahoe area sits perfectly positioned between the Neuse River and the open Atlantic, making it an ideal base for exploring North Carolina's Outer Banks and Crystal Coast attractions. The surrounding landscape features quintessential coastal charm, with working waterfronts, historic fishing villages, and pristine natural areas within easy driving distance. This region has long been a haven for those seeking authentic coastal experiences away from the more crowded tourist hotspots.

What makes this location particularly appealing is its access to both water-based activities and land-based exploration. The nearby towns of Beaufort and Oriental offer delightful shopping, dining, and cultural experiences. Maritime history enthusiasts will appreciate the rich heritage of the area, including connections to Blackbeard and the golden age of American sailing. State parks and nature preserves in the surrounding region provide opportunities for kayaking, fishing, birdwatching, and peaceful nature walks through maritime forests.

The campground itself serves as a welcoming community gathering place, reflecting the YMCA's mission of hospitality and connection. RV guests will find themselves in a peaceful setting where the pace slows down and the focus shifts to enjoying outdoor recreation and natural beauty. The waterfront location provides refreshing breezes and scenic views that characterize North Carolina's coastal appeal.

This destination works wonderfully for families seeking educational outdoor experiences, retirees looking for peaceful coastal getaways, and anyone wanting to explore North Carolina's maritime heritage and natural ecosystems. Our nine-year-old just finished her first week at starter camp and said it was the most incredible experience of her life. She came home and didn’t complain about chores and I feel has grown a lot as a leader after only one week. Communication with the camp was great. She had a fantastic time. Can’t wait till next year.

It get worse. She started to climb into my bed and wanted to sleep next to me and i was very uncomfortable and started crying. I told the head councelor ans she told me i was being dramatic and lying. One day, I was going in the lake and this girl went under me and bit my ankles leaving me bruises and said she was a snapping turtle. This really traumatized my mental health. I tried to talk to thr councelor again and they got mad and sent me to the thinking cabin where i verbally abused. They told me i was worthless and useless, and wasnt wanted at the camp. While i was sleeping i saw roaches spiders and vermin in the cabin. I woke up with plenty of rashes and bites on my legs arms and chest. Overall the worst camp and experience ever
