About Avon by the Sea RV Park

Campground in North Carolina.

Avon by the Sea RV Park offers a unique coastal camping experience on North Carolina's Outer Banks, where the Atlantic Ocean's refreshing breezes and natural beauty create an unforgettable backdrop for your RV adventure. Located along the scenic Highway 12 corridor, this park sits perfectly positioned to explore one of America's most iconic barrier island destinations.

The Outer Banks region has captivated visitors for generations with its rich maritime history, pristine beaches, and laid-back coastal charm. Avon itself is a charming village that serves as an ideal base for discovering the area's many treasures. The wide, sandy beaches nearby are perfect for swimming, fishing, and simply enjoying spectacular ocean views. The area is renowned for excellent water sports opportunities, including surfing, windsurfing, and kiteboarding, particularly during peak seasons when Atlantic swells create ideal conditions.

Beyond beach activities, the region offers compelling historical and cultural attractions. Cape Hatteras National Seashore, featuring the iconic Cape Hatteras Lighthouse with its distinctive black and white spiral stripes, is within reach and represents one of North Carolina's most photographed landmarks. The historic lighthouse has guided mariners since 1870 and remains a testament to the area's seafaring heritage. The nearby villages dotting the Outer Banks each have their own personality, with local restaurants serving fresh seafood caught daily by regional fishermen.

Birding enthusiasts will find the Outer Banks to be a paradise, particularly during migration seasons when thousands of species pass through. The area's varied ecosystems support diverse wildlife, making it ideal for nature photography and observation. Families appreciate the relaxed pace and numerous beach access points, while adventure seekers find plenty of activities from kayaking in sound waters to exploring maritime forests and nature trails.

The mild coastal climate makes this destination appealing throughout much of the year, though summers are the warmest and most popular season. Whether you're seeking relaxation, outdoor adventure, historical exploration, or quality time with family, Avon by the Sea RV Park serves as a wonderful launching point for experiencing the timeless appeal of North Carolina's Outer Banks.

Great experience camping at Avon By The Sea RV Park. The sites were not huge but adequate. Steady WiFi was a plus. Nice and CLEAN bathhouse. All of neighboring campers were friendly and the campground was really quiet at night. A 1 - 2 minute walk and you are on the beach or at the pool. We definitely plan to return.

Doesn’t appear that I can leave a second review so I’ll add to the first. This was our second year in a row visiting, was a great trip, did not disappoint. More than just a OBX vacation. The vibe and setting is peaceful and not commercialized. Have had nothing but 100% satisfaction from both visits, would definitely recommend. Origional review Beautiful little spot, backs up to the beach and pier. Nice fishing pier, pier store is well stocked, open 6-10. Beach is very nice, short walk from campsites, surfing, fishing, swimming. With a free permit you can do a beach fire untill 1000. Campsites are nice and accommodating, electric, water, sewer. Bathrooms are the best I’ve seen 10 out of 10, nice sized showers, showers and toilets clean any time I stopped in. Pool is very nice! Live music on schedule. Restaurant: bar up front, food truck and ice cream truck by pier. Playground for kids, dog friendly, beer garden. Great location maybe 10 minutes north of Cape Hatteras. Loved it there will be visiting again, definitely recommend

Complete gem steps from the beach. Small "boutique" campground right on the beach, only about 25 sites! Clean new bathhouses. Awesome pool with sundeck overlooking the ocean. So quiet and peaceful, no golf carts running amok, barking dogs or screaming kids. Just the ocean. Restaurants, ice cream, and stores are in walking distance. Avon has walking/bike paths throughout and we easily biked to the stores and around the area. Dog friendly all over, the beaches and there is an onsite restaurant/beer garden you can dine with your dog. The pier is also steps away for fishing. We unfortunately missed the bands they have play at the complex on this trip, but we are already planning to return. If the beach and peace and relaxation over those packed campgrounds are you most desired "amenities" this is the place.

It was nice to have a restaurant in the property. Only things that need improvement was the frequency that the bathrooms were cleaned and that the food tiki bar at the pool was never open and food trucks had only lunch time openings. Maybe it was staffing issues, I’m not sure. Overall great place!

Quiet and quaint camping. The campground consists of 25 or 26 spots and they are close together. It’s great for families or friends traveling together. We had spot 25 and it was perfect for our rig. We have a 45ft fifth wheel. Our spot was not nearly as breezy as some others which is good and bad. Good because you can leave the awnings out, bad because of those Hatteras Mosquitoes so bring fans and bug spray. Not the fancy kind of bug spray. Bring the kind you’d take on those jungle hikes. Not much of a view from the campground itself but that’s ok. It’s a short walk to the beach and Avon Pier for those coffee drinking sunrises. The pool is quiet but could use some upkeep. Don’t bring the scooters or hover board for the kids as the roads are gravel. The bikes work best. We’ve throughly enjoyed our stay and we plan on visiting again.
