About OBX Campground

Campground in North Carolina.

OBX Campground offers an ideal home base for exploring the natural wonders and rich history of North Carolina's Outer Banks. Located in Kill Devil Hills, this RV park puts you within easy reach of some of the region's most iconic attractions and beautiful coastal landscapes.

The Outer Banks has captivated visitors for generations, and for good reason. The area is steeped in American history, most notably as the site where the Wright Brothers made their first powered flight at Kill Devil Hills in 1903. The Wright Brothers National Memorial is just a short drive away, offering fascinating exhibits and the opportunity to stand where aviation history was made. History enthusiasts will also appreciate the nearby Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, one of the most recognizable lighthouses in the country, and Fort Raleigh National Historic Site, which tells the story of the Lost Colony.

Beyond the historical attractions, the Outer Banks is a paradise for outdoor recreation. The area's wild horses roam freely on Assateague Island, offering visitors a unique wildlife viewing experience. Whether you're interested in fishing, water sports, or simply enjoying pristine beaches, the coastline here delivers year-round appeal. The barrier island setting creates distinctive ecosystems that nature lovers find endlessly rewarding.

The beaches themselves are spectacular, with wide sandy shores perfect for swimming, sunbathing, or long contemplative walks. Sunrise and sunset viewing is exceptional along this stretch of coast, with dramatic skies reflected in calm waters or across the beach. The temperate climate makes the Outer Banks enjoyable in multiple seasons, from spring through fall.

The Kill Devil Hills area serves as a convenient hub, with local restaurants, shops, and services nearby. Families find this location particularly welcoming, with activities suitable for all ages. Whether you're seeking adventure, relaxation, history, or natural beauty, OBX Campground's location provides the perfect launching point for an unforgettable Outer Banks getaway.

Its a very peaceful, scenic campsite with large camping spaces so you are not on top of your neighbors. You can request to be at one of the front sites to get the best view of the "colington creek".

Sarah took our call with a smile in her voice and that pretty much sealed the deal. We knew we wanted to stay in kill devil for the last leg of family vacation but hadn’t decided where. We called two places, OBX being the second and we’d barely hung up for me to discuss with the family before I was calling her right back to book. We booked three nights and were gratuitous to have a water front spa... We booked three nights and were gratuitous to have a water front space offered to us before asking to be away from other campers if possible. Sarah understood we’d been traveling and wanted our fur babies to be able to rest, she tucked us into the space behind the office and it was perfect. For our stay it was less crowded and the ultimate ‘rest and relaxation’ our family needed for a few days. The park is settled at the end of a residential road with incredible waterfront views, a historical cemetery among the trees and is close to every store/restaurant you could possibly need. Sites were clean, hook ups were easy, bath houses offered plenty of privacy and great water pressure. Laundry is coin operated but the office does have quarters to trade. We hope to visit more in the future!

We stayed here a couple nights ago for 3 days. This is a very nice RV park and has level and spacious sites. It's also on the water which you'd think there would be a lot of bugs but there weren't. It's a quiet and convenient RV park and can easily accommodate all sizes of RV's. We were lucky to catch a beautiful sunset as we hung out on the dock. We will be back!!

This was our first stay at the OBX Campground and we were pleasantly surprised! It is a smaller campground, very clean, and has large sites with a picnic table and full hook ups. Everyone at the campground from the office to the campers were all so friendly. This was our first time with our new fifth wheel and when we called the campground to make a reservation, they recommended a site for us newb... It was a great campground to walk our dog and it is centrally located in Kill Devil Hills. We brought our T-Mobile box with us and had perfect wifi and cell phone service. We love the OBX and this campground will be a first choice. Luckily we are retired and only a couple of hours away. We will definitely be planning more trips here.
