About Wilmington KOA Holiday

Campground in North Carolina.

Located in Wilmington, North Carolina, this RV park offers an excellent home base for exploring one of the Carolina coast's most vibrant destinations. Wilmington has undergone a remarkable transformation over recent decades, evolving into a thriving cultural and entertainment hub while maintaining its Southern charm and coastal character.

The area surrounding the park provides easy access to some of the region's most compelling attractions. Historic downtown Wilmington sits along the Cape Fear River, featuring the famous Riverwalk lined with restaurants, shops, and galleries. The downtown area maintains much of its 18th and 19th-century architecture, and film and television production has made it known as "Hollywood East," adding a creative energy to the community. Movie fans particularly enjoy exploring filming locations from productions that have been shot throughout the region.

Beach lovers will appreciate the proximity to Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach, and Kure Beach, each offering distinct personalities. Wrightsville Beach attracts surfers and swimmers with its clean waters and vibrant beach town atmosphere. Carolina Beach features the classic charm of a traditional amusement park and boardwalk experience. For nature enthusiasts, the USS North Carolina Battleship provides fascinating naval history, while the nearby Screen Gems Studios offers behind-the-scenes tours for media production fans.

The greater Wilmington area appeals to diverse travelers. History buffs explore the rich colonial past and Civil War heritage. Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy kayaking, fishing, and water sports throughout the Cape Fear region. Art and culture lovers find galleries, live music venues, and seasonal festivals. Families appreciate the combination of beach access, educational attractions, and entertainment options. Retirees often choose Wilmington for its mild climate, walkable downtown, and relaxed pace of life.

The location provides convenient access to major routes while offering a peaceful retreat from the highway. Whether you're seeking a week-long beach vacation, a cultural getaway, or simply a comfortable stop on a longer journey, this RV park situates you perfectly for discovering why Wilmington continues to grow in popularity among travelers seeking authentic coastal Carolina experiences.

Staff had all my reservations ready to go. Was able to get to my RV site. Was escorted by a staff member. Many thanks for the escort. Set up was typical for a national chain. Despite being in a busy area, the park was quiet and peaceful. Would stay here if I have an extended event at the USS North Carolina (BB-55) memorial.

Great place! They had the nicest and cleanest restrooms/showers I have ever been in at a campground They were like your home bathroom. The lounge and laundry areas were superb. Staff was friendly, the sites were great. If we get bac that way I would definitely stay again!

We stayed at Wilmington KOA Holiday in Wilmington, NC from October 14 to 18. Getting There: The area is under construction and neither our Garmin, Google, or Ford GPS's could figure out the area. All three gave us wrong directions getting to the campground, finding local businesses, etc. The road the campground is on now has a median so you can't take a left out of the campground (which all GPS's kept telling us to do) and if you're trying to come in from the south it can be a bit tight, especially for bigger rigs. Customer Service/Checking In: Fantastic! Check in was pleasant, and they escort you to your site. Site #: 34 Level: Level for the most part, we just needed a single block on the driver side. Electric/Water/Sewer: Everything worked great. Noise Level: It is in a city setting so there's the expected noise that comes with that, but nothing terrible. Interior Roads: It's all one-ways and if you're in the back corner, there are no thru ways so it can be a long walk back to your site. But they're well-maintained and smooth for driving. Pet Experience: The fenced dog area is very nice and there are areas along the outer roads where dogs can sniff, pee, poop without being in people's sites. There are several poop stations throughout the park. Overall Pros: It's a very nice park with easy access to local conveniences. They have all day trash pickup which is a bonus. The store is well-stocked with essentials and swag. At the entrance is a self wash with bays big enough for RV's. Overall Cons: Some sites can be fairly close to the neighbors. We were in 34, which is in the turn and the corner of the neighbor's trailer was practically in our space. The neighbor didn't have enough space to park their truck in front of the trailer, so they parked it in the back which actually partially blocked entrance to our site. That said, sites 62/63 had a lot more space between neighbors. Would I return: Yes, but since space is our preference we'd pick a different site than 34.

Check in: Large size office. Everyone was friendly. Parking: Large size parking for rv Seasonal campers: A few that are located behind a fence. Signage: Good. Site 65: Gravel pad and level. Site faces a fence and woods at the end of the property. Site is dry. View: The view is of the woods and chain link fence. Fire pit: Yes. Water source: Good. Sewer: Yes, but is located a long ways to in the back of the site. Bathhouse: Good. Laundry room: Good. Swimming pool: Yes, not very large but is nice. Club house: No. Fitness area: No. Restaurant: No. Grounds: Fairly nice, lots of plants and landscape. Air TV: Yes. Wifi: Did not use. So here is the bad: 1) Way over priced and I was using the standard site. The patio sites are even more. Sites 77 and 66 are slightly better sites. The patio sites 82, 28, 29, 30,31, 32 & 34. I've never met a bad KOA. I mean the people who work there are so nice, the place is clean as a whistle and there's a lot to do. Its kind of funny but this KOA seems to draw a higher end " camper" then the others I've stayed at lol. Lots of really nice campers with most of the people not coming outside at all....Definitely worth going and we'll be going back for sure!
