Fairly spacious sites, not too close to your neighbor, and we found the park ranger and the personnel at check-in to be very friendly and helpful. The only negative with this park is it's probably louder, from a traffic standpoint, then your neighborhood Walmart parking lot. Other than that it's a beautiful spot. Another nice thing about this park is there's plenty of hiking trails, flat, but well... We stayed in mid Oct and the weather was lovely. It was still warm with a breeze coming from the beach. At night, it did get colder but nothing like a sleeping bag can’t fix! The space we picked had plenty of space for all of our camp gear. Only complaint was the community restroom was a little bit of a walk from our site. Either way, would come back!!

Since we went in winter, unfortunately we could not see the Venus Fly traps as they were dormant. However we could still enjoy the hiking trails through the park. The path along the beach to the marina is pretty!

While visiting my son, we hiked for four miles in the Carolina Beach State Park. The trails were obviously marked, and it was a beautiful day. There were plenty of people on the trails with their children and pets. Great time for all.

Very nice state park, free to use. Lots of hiking trails and areas to walk. Only recommendation is to definitely use insect repellent if you are walking the trails in the woods, because we were getting swarmed while walking.
