About Maumee Bay State Park Campground

Campground in Ohio.

Nestled along the scenic shores of Lake Erie in northwest Ohio, Maumee Bay State Park Campground offers RV travelers a remarkable destination where water, wildlife, and natural beauty converge. Located in Oregon, Ohio, this state park campground provides an ideal base for exploring one of the Great Lakes' most ecologically significant areas. The park sits within the Magee Marsh Wildlife Area, a internationally recognized wetland that draws nature enthusiasts from across the region and beyond.

What makes Maumee Bay particularly special is its position at the intersection of major migratory bird routes. Birdwatchers flock here during spring and fall migrations to catch glimpses of warblers, waterfowl, and raptors in their natural habitat. Even casual observers will appreciate the remarkable diversity of bird species visible from the campground and nearby observation areas. The wetlands surrounding the park create a dynamic ecosystem that shifts with the seasons, offering different experiences throughout the year.

The location provides easy access to Lake Erie's recreational opportunities. Anglers will find excellent fishing prospects, whether from shore or by boat, with opportunities to catch walleye, perch, and other species that make Lake Erie famous among fishing communities. The calm waters near the park are particularly welcoming for those new to boating or preferring gentler water conditions compared to the open lake.

Beyond the park boundaries, the area offers charming small-town character and local hospitality. The nearby communities of Oregon and Fremont provide restaurants, shops, and services for campers. History buffs will appreciate the region's significance in Ohio's heritage, with several historical sites and museums within reasonable driving distance. The proximity to Toledo, Ohio's largest city, means cultural attractions, shopping, and dining options are available for those seeking more urban amenities during their stay.

Maumee Bay State Park Campground appeals to diverse travelers: birders seeking prime viewing locations, families wanting outdoor recreation near the lake, fishing enthusiasts targeting freshwater species, and nature lovers seeking peaceful waterfront camping. The combination of natural beauty, wildlife viewing opportunities, and recreational access makes this a destination worth planning your RV trip around.

Absolutely immaculate and gorgeous state park on Lake Eerie. Spacious campsites, extremely spacious, and beautiful views, every campsite we walked by was private and comfortable. People are friendly. Campsites are very clean Trails are gorgeous. Water and bathe is close by and the bathroom is very clean. Beautiful birds throughout the campground, extremely enjoyable. This was our first time camping here and overall it has been a good experience. Lots of wild open areas. Campground seems to be fairly quiet. Lots are large with electric hookups for the wide array of camper needs today. Each lot has a nice natural divider between them that makes it so you don't feel as if you right on top of your neighbor. Lots are all paved and reasonably level. Bathroom/showe... Bathroom/shower house is clean and well maintained. There are limited sites with full hookups. Plenty of activities to do in the park as well as the lodge and beach areas. The only negatives I have found is the only garbage bins are up by the dump station. I feel having several scattered throughout the park would be more convenient for guestsl. Would i stay here again?? The answer to that is yes!!! Overall I have no major complaints and have enjoyed my stay. If you are near here and are thinking of checking it out, I would highly recommend it. I would suggest making reservations in advance just to make sure you have a spot. Enjoy your visit, you won't be disappointed 👍😁

My family absolute loves this campground. We have been going here for years. There is always something going on that engages the kids. There are plenty of hiking and biking trails. Shower and bath houses are always so clean. Would suggest anyone looking for a great place to come and camp this would be it. It is not very far from Cedar Pint either so if you wanted to make a day trip you can go ride... My family absolute loves this campground. We have been going here for years. Enjoyed a weekend camping trip here last weekend. All the sites are nice and spacious and somewhat private, so I enjoyed that! The restrooms were clean as well. My family really enjoyed the paved trails and we rode our bicycles around and up to the beach to visit my sister and family who was staying at the lodge/lofts. Beautiful sunsets from behind resort on the water. Lots of wildlife as well. Wo... Enjoyed a weekend camping trip here last weekend. This place is beautiful. It is very well maintained, clean, and spacious. The trails, walking paths, wildlife, and beach provide a perfect getaway. We stayed there on our way out to Maine and decided to book it in our return trip as well. We will be back when we can stay longer.
