Furnace kept the place warm, it was clean and no mice- we had experienced them in other cabins before...We were a little disappointed that it didn't have wood burning fireplace or outdoor pit, but everything else made up for it. The master bedroom has king bed and second bath. There are hiking trails quite close to the cabins. The different trails all over the park are at many difficulty levels. Mini gulf at the lodge is really needing repairs but we still had fun and used the imperfections as traps. 😆 We will be back.

I thought it was a nice campground — very clean and well-maintained. The only downside was a generator running in the background that I could hear from my tent. They do have showers, but the shower/restroom area could really use some renovation as it’s quite smelly and outdated. There’s a lovely lodge at the entrance with a restaurant, which was a nice touch. Everyone I interacted with who worked... I thought it was a nice campground — very clean and well-maintained. If you’re heading to the rail trail, it’s easy to find — just follow the gravel path near the kids’ playground.

We stayed at the River Run campground. It was pleasant, clean, and convenient to cycling on the North Bend Rail Trail and paddling on North Bend Lake. Only negative was that our pond-side campsite (#35) needed some trees and was very close to our neighbors. There were definitely better sites for shade and privacy.

We stayed in the cabins. So many pine trees were already cut and all of the around cabin area and the road are planned to be cut in the next few months. I guess the insurance cost is more important than destroying 100 year old healthy pines. So minus one star for that. Another minus one star for the EXTREMELY loud heating system. So many pine trees were already cut and all of the around cabin area and the road are planned to be cut in the next few months. I guess the insurance cost is more important than destroying 100 year old healthy pines. So minus one star for that. Another minus one star for the EXTREMELY loud heating system. Which someone had the great idea to install in a hallway closet between the two bedrooms. Imagine being in a Boeing 747 while taking off, over and over. Because the ceilings are 15' tall, the furnace never stopped. Either you turn it off and freeze or it is impossible to sleep. Of course, the other convienent to the park way is to keep buying the wet $8.75 a bundle wood to keep burning....They will charge it to the credit card on file that you do not have any choice not give. HERE COMES THE BEST The restaurant prices shown in the cabin and online are in reality 40% more when you actually go to the restaurant. The supposed two sides that come included with the burgers, became one side, a choice of french fries (curly or steak) or chips. The prices that were advertised in the cabin and online are not valid, because of the "old price list" trick. A new menu was no where to be found. The prices were actually 40% more. The quality of the burgers that we got were terrible. Unless you are a werewolf. The only thing you will taste is the raw meat and whatever else they put inside that smellls bad. We tried to cook it more in the skillet, but it fell apart. $15.90 for a raw burger and 10 french fries...a waste of money. BEWARE - Out of State tourist = target Like all the above was not enough. We handed them our business debit card to pay ($31.80). They gave it back saying it was declined. Surprised, we gave another credit card which was charged immediately. Going back to the cabin, we contacted our bank to ask why the card was declined, they told us it was never declined and that the charge went through normally with the first try. We looked at our banking app, and indeed we saw that the card had charged and the money taken from our account. So we have been charged two times, while they told us that the first time was declined. We drove back to the restaurant asking to talk to a manager. The classic US store response of "the manager is not here" immediately changed when we said we would call the police. We showed that the card was charged normally and that there was no declined signal sent from our bank to their machine. We took our money back, but be aware. Consider that a double charge refund after the customer is gone can happen in the form of a gift card or other ways to anyone. Also, consider how many people do not follow their charges or do not have a banking app. It is not the first time we had weird things happening in West Virginia from store employees as tourists..it is the fifth! We had convenience store employees "confused" giving the wrong change, products with no prices on that they charge what they feel like and now we were double charged saying our card was declined... The only positive, to be fair to those people, and the reason it gets the two stars is that the park maintenance employees at the cabins were polite and helpful

I only had a short stay/hike, but I will definitely be returning. The Lodge is clean, comfy, and very inviting. The only knock would be the incredibly creeky hallways, lol, but it just adds to the rustic charm. The park itself is absolutely beautiful.
