Pymatuning State Park Campground is one of our go-to spots when we want a quiet, nature-filled getaway. Overall, it’s a great campground with a nice mix of shaded and open sites, and the atmosphere is peaceful—perfect for families or anyone looking to unplug for a bit. They’ve recently updated the power at the sites, which is a much-needed improvement and definitely appreciated. Most of the sites are well maintained, and we’ve found several that we really like. That said, if you have a longer rig, be careful—some of the sites are pretty slanted and can be a real challenge to level on. It’s doable, but you'll want to scope out the site carefully before backing in. The bathrooms are hit or miss. The central ones are decent, but the facilities outside that main area are pretty outdated. They’re cleaned regularly (which we appreciate!), but they could use some modernizing to match the upgrades happening elsewhere in the park. One of our favorite parts of staying here is being close to the spillway—it’s always a fun little side trip, especially for kids who want to toss bread to the fish and birds. It’s kind of a quirky tradition that never gets old. All in all, Pymatuning is a solid campground with great natural beauty, some recent improvements, and just a few quirks to be aware of. Still very much worth a stay.

Eight days n nights in tents under the sun and countless stars with light winds, warm temps, and no precip. All activities were open despite being the end of the season. One of the top sites ever in our long history of living outdoors in nature. Five stars Pie Ma Tu Ning!

This is the best campground around. It is very clean, the host people are soooo helpful and it's so relaxing looking out over the water. With kids the middle is the best because the playground, sand volleyball court, fishing, movies on Saturday night and the beach are located there.
