Well-Shaded, Peaceful Campground Right by the Water Potato Hills Central Campground was one of our stops during a road trip through Oklahoma, and it turned out to be one of the best. The RV spots are well laid out, with a smart balance of space, shade, and privacy. Most sites have direct access to the water, and even on hot days, the trees provide plenty of shade to keep things cool and comfortable. Surprisingly, mosquitoes were not much of an issue, even though the campground is right next to the lake—seems like they’re doing something to keep them under control. The scenery is beautiful, and everything feels well-maintained. One charming touch: a few geese roam the grounds, adding to the calm, natural atmosphere without being disruptive. Like other campgrounds in this part of the lake, the shoreline was partially flooded a few years ago, and some sites are now underwater. But rather than being a downside, it actually adds charm—some of the submerged picnic tables and benches have become fun spots for kids to play, swim, and jump in the water. On the downside, there’s no full hookup, and there are no shower facilities. However, there is a central dump station at the campground exit, so for a short- to medium-length stay, that works just fine. Overall, this is a great spot to stay. Highly recommended.

The ONLY thing that might be a concern is the bathroom/ shower. It's clean, well maintained, and the water was warm.... but the BUGS! WOW! A lot of bugs which are of course attracted by the lights but still.... even I was grossed out, but my GF and teenage daughter, had they been with me, probably wouldn't have used them! That said, I look forward to coming back here again.

Nice, open camp areas. Level pads, lots of water access. There is a nice walk-on pier and multiple species of fish (including walleye). They have horse camping with trails and several camp sites with horse stalls. Be warned, tho, the bathrooms have regular sinks and toilets but no water. They don't flush and were FULL of poop.

Stopped here for a rest with the family. Couldn't find any pictures of a playground, so I took a gamble. So glad we stopped. Awesome playground, clean, and simple walk to the water. Free entry too.
