About Lake Lawtonka - East Campground

Campground in Oklahoma.

Lake Lawtonka's East Campground offers RV enthusiasts a peaceful retreat in southwestern Oklahoma, where outdoor recreation and natural beauty converge. Situated near the charming town of Lawton, this public campground provides an excellent base for exploring one of the region's most beloved recreational destinations.

The campground sits along the shores of Lake Lawtonka, a 5,430-acre reservoir that has been drawing families and outdoor lovers for decades. The lake itself is the main attraction here, offering abundant opportunities for fishing, boating, swimming, and water sports throughout the year. Whether you're an avid angler hoping to catch largemouth bass, catfish, or crappie, or simply looking to spend peaceful mornings on the water, Lake Lawtonka delivers. The calm waters and scenic shoreline make it an ideal destination for those seeking a slower pace of camping life.

The surrounding landscape showcases the natural beauty of southwestern Oklahoma, with rolling terrain, native vegetation, and stunning sunsets that paint the sky in brilliant hues. This area is particularly appealing during spring and fall when temperatures are moderate and the scenery is at its most vibrant. Birdwatchers and nature photographers will find plenty to appreciate, as the region supports diverse wildlife and bird species throughout the seasons.

Beyond the lake, the nearby city of Lawton offers convenient access to dining, shopping, and services. The Fort Sill area, home to significant military history, is within reasonable driving distance for those interested in exploring cultural attractions. Families appreciate the relatively compact geography, which means you're never far from amenities while still feeling genuinely removed from urban bustle.

This campground appeals to retirees seeking an affordable weekend escape, families wanting a summer vacation centered on water activities, and serious anglers looking to maximize their time on a productive fishing lake. The public nature of the facility makes it an accessible option for RV travelers of all experience levels and budgets.

Beautiful spot on the lake. As the site says, its first come first served. The lady comes around in the mornings to collect your fee

Great place to camp next to a beautiful lake. Just make sure you bring a long hose since water supply is a distance from RV spot.

We lived there for a year and kept running into issues like not being allowed to winterize our RV, not allowed to put up a small dog pen, not allowed to use the water hose, everytime Rita had a problem a “rule” was made up but we were never given a list of rules for the park. 3 months in we were told we had to start paying a $60 fee to be able to park our boat even tho it fit into our parking spot... We lived there for a year and kept running into issues like not being allowed to winterize our RV, not allowed to put up a small dog pen, not allowed to use the water hose, everytime Rita had a problem a “rule” was made up but we were never given a list of rules for the park. 3 months in we were told we had to start paying a $60 fee to be able to park our boat even tho it fit into our parking spot, and is shown online that boat parking is free of charge, Jimmie said he just needed to update the website. Just recently ran into another problem from rinsing out our tank and they told us that cost an extra $500 in water fees because we aren’t allowed to do that. When we asked them for proof that our unit was the one causing the water bill problem they told us we are all on one unit so there’s no way to show where it’s coming from but that we were the cause. they then gave you less than 24 hours to get out. Then they text and called every RV park in the area and told them that we didn’t pay our bills and we were awful people to work with completely slanderous and uncalled for. We have text message proof of all conversations. I would highly recommend that you stay far away from Lawtonka RV Park because after seeing many other negative reviews this is a behavior that you will experience there too.

Positives: Very clean and well maintained property. Negatives: We stayed a few months then were suddenly asked to leave within 32 hours and to not return, without a reason given. Also, only a few days after paying a non-refundable lot rent for the upcoming month. We never broke any of the rules we were given, except we had a plastic blue kiddie pool. We removed it when asked. We left the property... Positives: Very clean and well maintained property. Absolutely gorgeous campground. It's very clean, lake views, people are nice. I would only have to say the bathrooms could be cleaner and need some repairs. Still absolutely love it down here.
