This area is popular during peak season. Reserve 2-4 weeks in advance for weekends and holidays.
Most parks have check-in after 1:00 PM and check-out by 11:00 AM. Call ahead if you'll arrive late.
Oregon weather can change quickly. Pack layers and check the forecast for the area.
Don't miss local attractions near the park. Ask the camp host for hidden gems and trails.

Great place to zone out, decompress, watch the stars and watch the Milkyway rise in the late spring.....so quiet and must. It is not crowed like major areas close to larger towns etc. You can hear the wind, the sound of nature around you if people are cool......the latter is always questionable though.

Rough but beautiful in its own way. If you like remote unusual vistas this is your place. Camping here is as undeveloped as a developed campsite can get. The pit toilets are overrun by sparrows but usable. The actual campsite look like they have been neglected for years but the fire pits function. I came here to see where the lava meets the water. If you don’t mind a short hike you can be where fire meet water in the distant past. Come here if you want to get away from people and enjoy some really primeval landscapes.

You kind of need a four wheel drive to get here. You'll drive on gravel then dirt roads for 15 miles off the highway - that means a good 30 minutes to get to a place that has 2 picnic tables. Looks like it's free. Port o potty. Literally out on the middle of absolutely nowhere. If you break down, oh well. There's no one to save you. This was a last minute very bad decision. I should have stayed on the highway and got to my destination at 10:30 ... but I am SOOOO TIRED! I hope a cougar or wolf doesn't eat me....or worse. Holy hell.

A remote, primitive campsite. This is about as far to the southeast in Oregon as you can get. Campsites and bathrooms are basic. The geology is absolutely fascinating. Be certain to learn more about it on the Internet before you go. There are many unique features.

Pretty far from the road yet a cool spot to camp. We found it on a map on our way to the Alvord Desert #rusticBros #meridianKuna
