Backpacking, day hiking and mountaineering are the most common forms of recreation in the area during the short summer season. Opportunities for nature photography also abound.Mt. Jefferson and Park Ridge are the dominant features of the Jefferson Park area. Mt. Jefferson's slopes are mantled by five glaciers: Whitewater, Waldo, Milk Creek, Russell and Jefferson Park. Jefferson Park proper consists of sensitive subalpine meadows and lakes with an extremely short growing season. Vegetation is dwarfed with old-growth mountain hemlock the size of most 10-20 year old conifers. Other geographic features include steep talus slopes, rock outcrops and alpine meadows. To assist in planning an overnight trip into the Jefferson Park area, take time to review the Jefferson Park vicinity map, map of Bays, Scout, Rock and Park Lakes , which includes 26 designated campsites or view the Russell Lake map for four additional designated campsites. If camping within 250 feet of any of the lakes in Jefferson Park you must camp within a designated site. The sensitive meadows and fragile vegetation of Jefferson Park’s subalpine ecosystem take decades of recovery once damaged. With the popularity of Jefferson Park, please help protect this area and preserve the experience for you and for future visitors. ''Leave No Trace'' techniques are encouraged, including properly disposing of human and pet waste and carrying out all trash. Easy stop, $30 full hookups, clean restrooms/facilities if you need those. There's a huge grassy area to frolic plus a fenced dog park ! Level cinder, huge parking lot with lots of space, note your spot number and pay online (oops no photo). It may not be super pretty but why would you go to KOA (seems the only campground near here) We thought it good value for money to catch up on showers/laundr... Camp host was amazing. Site was nice and clean. Internet was amazing. We just stopped overnight but all was well. Only issue was it was dark and hard to see where campsite ended. But the host was right there and helped out. Also our GPS did not give accurate entrance directions. Great overnight stay!

Nice clean RV site with all the basic features for water, power and sewer. Picnic tables are available. RV dump station is $10. The park is part of the Jefferson county fairgrounds so there is no gate for the park.

First off I would like to thank Jefferson county RV Park for the clean and friendly RV park you have in Madras Oregon. The thing that made this experience really nice is that Kim made us feel warm and welcome not just your average check-in. Also I would like to talk about price of the park it is lower than any place you can find I won't say the price but trust me it is very affordable here. I don't know that the RV park wants me to advertise their prices. But let's just say you can stay here for the price of a meal out being Burger King or McDonald's. Also another thing I would like to mention is have you not been here before you are surrounded by stores and neighborhoods so this RV park is not in a secluded area or away from businesses and homes. Overall I would definitely recommend this RV park to my friends and family thanks again.

It's a basic facility with RV hookups at the county fairgrounds. The property appears well kept. The camping consists of a gravel parking lot adjacent to the fairgrounds surrounded by a fence and also adjacent to a mobile home park. All sites appear to be in direct sun with little to no shade. The sites have picnic tables and a fire grill. The sites have water and electric hookups as well as sewag... It's a basic facility with RV hookups at the county fairgrounds. I paid $30 a night. The bathhouse was adequate however it would be nice to have more hooks to hang stuff on and perhaps even a small shelf to sit your soap and shampoo on. The water was hot and the pressure was adequate, it served its purpose. I needed a shower and to charge my various batteries including an EMTB. This place is suitable for that. Bonus, it's riding distance from Madras East hills mountain biking area which I plan to check out tomorrow.
