Great swimming spot. The water was deep and warm, but we did not feel safe to camp here. Around 7pm a man came and let his unleashed pitbulls run around our campsite. I am not exaggerating when I say they pissed on every tree and crapped next to our fire pit, no owner in sight. At sunset we were approached by a different man from town washing his laundry in the river. He was nice enough, but he hung around for around 45 minutes asking us intrusive questions, repeatedly highlighting the fact we were not local and alone in the campsite that night. The interaction made us super uncomfortable. Also, the camp site was littered with trash and drug paraphernalia (burnt spoons, broken oil burners, needles, roaches and cigarette butts.). I camp a lot, but this was the first time I’ve ended up abandoning a campsite when it got dark and went to a motel.

Small campground with 3 spots with firepits. 2 of them are very close together, the third is a little further with the amphitheater wall kind of blocking it making it more private. There is a restroom and a great trail. Went during fall after the rain had started and the campground was empty at that time. The only thing I will say is that there was some trash and a mattress at one of the sites, which is not a reflection of the campground but more of a reflection of the people who stayed there. I like that there is a small place to camp closer to home that we can just drive up to for a night or weekend to get out of the house.

NOT A SAFE PLACE TO CAMP! Me and my friend decided to go winter camping here and at first seemed nice but turned for the worst. They pulled in front of our campsite and stopped and then drove about 100 yards up and then turned off all their lights. Me and my friend immediately ran to the car and drove to get a bar of service and called 911 they told us we should not camp there and leave so we packed up within 5 minutes and left. I have no doubt that those men were gonna wait for us to fall asleep and do something horrible. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.
