Absolutely quiet this time a year! We were the only ones staying the night. Be prepared however if you are camping here in January. You will need a heat source as the temps dropped to high 20s. No running water but you get a clean vault toilet. All spaces have a picnic table and fire ring. Great area for hiking, rock hounding and exploring. Road in was just fine.

30 min drive from main road up north. I didn’t think it was a challenging drive at all - anyone in a little Corolla can make it down. Super campground though, would totally recommend. Make sure you have enough fuel, that’s all. Clearance wasn’t an issue, certainly don’t need a 4x4

September 2025 - We did very little research before heading down this way, and made the mistake of taking the long route from 95. We were headed to scout out Leslie's Gulch and saw the signs for Succor Creek and headed down. We've been down some wild roads, but this one was particularly rough. Even in our SUV we were just shaking every single bolt off the truck, feeling like we were in a magnitude... September 2025 - We did very little research before heading down this way, and made the mistake of taking the long route from 95. We were headed to scout out Leslie's Gulch and saw the signs for Succor Creek and headed down. We've been down some wild roads, but this one was particularly rough. Even in our SUV we were just shaking every single bolt off the truck, feeling like we were in a magnitude 10 earthquake. The views up are BEAUTIFUL, but that comes with the price of white knuckling the steering wheel when pulling to the side to let others pass. We set up shop just a few miles before the campground itself. While we were there we watched a flash flood take out a whole road, there was an active wild fire about 50 miles out, and a hail storm. The winds were crazy enough at night that I thought we just blow right into the ravine, BUT with all of that, this place is too magical to miss. The lake at Leslie's Gulch is about an hour drive, and if you're in a bigger rig, you might find it worth it to camp along Succor Creek Rd. for more space than what is down Leslie's Gulch. There are plenty of spots big enough off the road for an RV (if you're brave) or a group camp, and they are all first come first serve (free). Just be sure to bring in traction boards and maybe a socket set to tighten up anything that shakes loose. Also, I'd recommend driving in from 201. The ride overall is much calmer and a few miles shorter, but depending on the time of year you might run into small water crossings. #boondocking #freecamping

One of the most beautiful dispersed camping areas we have ever been to! So many places to explore, rock hound, watch animals. I highly recommend this place!

The campground is in a very remote area inside the Succor Creek Natural Area. Getting here is a challenge and should only be done with utmost care and preparation. The campground itself is spartan with tables, no potable water, and when we were there, and pit toilet that was nearly full. That said, the area is incredibly beautiful and geologically unique.
